New OL=fat!!!

This GUYS GONNA BE A BEAST....but he's gotta lose some weight!

Offensive lineman Toniu Fonoti, acquired Tuesday from San Diego, weighed in this week at 404 pounds -- 54 pounds more than his listed playing weight.

Earlier, coach Mike Tice had said that Fonoti, 6-4, had lost six pounds since he arrived Wednesday, meaning Fonoti has reduced his weight to 398 pounds. The Vikings want him to get down to at least 370 pounds before he plays in a game.

"He's been working out twice a day and he wants to get out on the field," Tice said. "But he's probably a couple of weeks away."

Fonoti has battled weight issues throughout his four-year career and is recovering from a fractured left hand. The Vikings hope he can begin practicing next week, but he probably won't get into a game until the end of next month. Eventually, they hope he can compete for right guard, allowing rookie Marcus Johnson to move to right tackle.

Over 400, good lord! This guys gonna kill himself....losing and gaining weight that fast is not good at all! No wonder the Charger unloaded him....hopefully the Vikes can get him back into game shape!!! All he did was break his hand....he could still work out (not lift)

Tice thinks he's gonna lose 30 lbs in 2 weeks....man, that is extreme...what diet does Tice have in mind??? Hopefully we don't have another Stringer or Herron on our hands, that would make the season suck even more!

There is no question he has the skills, he was an all-pro if I am not mistaken. I think once he loses some weight and learns the system he will be our guard for years to come, this is very good news for out running game. The is essentially a no lose situation, I would give a sxth round pick for an all-pro anyday.
