    The Vikes have probably "dotted the i's and crossed the t's" on Favre's contract so they know where they stand, so they can close the Winfield contract.

    Winfield's contract could be backloaded a couple years, so Favre's $$$ isn't hitting the cap then.

    Obviously Winfield took one for the team, and agreed to a lower or backended contract so that there would be more money for Fav-re... ;D
