    My take on it all.

I have been a member here for a while, but I am mostly a non-posting troll. However, in this dark hour I feel its necessary to provide my take on things.

First, we have a GOOD team and I am impressed with our defense seeing as they are on the field for what seems 75% of the first 2 games. If it was our D from last year I fear the scores would have been far worse.

Second, football is a TEAM sport. I do not place the blame on anyone player, but I prefer to list our problems in order of their severity.

    1. O-line. Missing Birk is killing us. These guys have got to protect better. They cant hold a pocket or punch holes for our RBs. If they do not come together soon, expect a whole lot more of these awful games.

    2. RBs. We have decent RBs. DECENT. Nothing more. They are good when they have the room to run, but otherwise they are stat-padders for the opposing defense. While I LOVE Bennett and MeMoore, I think that we need to try to pick up Ricky Williams. We need a back who can make lemonade from O-line lemons, not one who gets stuffed like a pornstar at a sexfest.

    3. Daunte. One of the best QB's in the league, but everyone here knows, when he is under tremendous pressure, he creates more turnovers than a pastery shop. His success is dependent on point 1.

    4. WRs. They have got to pick up the pace and get open. 84 is not there to attract half the opposing secondary anymore. They need intensity and they need it fast.

    5. Tice. Do something! Scream, stomp, spit, change the playbook, but do SOMETHING...PLEASE!!!

Thats my take and I will end with a question....

Why isn't Donterrious Thomas starting? I LOVE the intensity this guy has!

What is Tice doing in that pic? It looks like he's about to kiss CPepp.

First in your post you say:

Then you follow that up by saying:

I tell ya, Even if we had the greatest running back in the world (much less Ricky Williams) they cannot run without an offensive line blocking.

You know I watched the TB game two times, and I have to say the guy had a pocket quite a few times.

During the bengal game he had some decent blocking too. Personally I blame Culpepper for most of the mistakes he made. I am guessing he blames himself too.

As far as the defense week one I was impressed. Week two they sucked hardcore. Giving up huge plays in the first quarter (no excuse can be made for them being on the field too long)

I liked your take on it though. This is a team game, somethings out of whack on a major level.

With the addition of Cowart MLB and EJ Henderson playing better than he had been, they moved EJ so he could start because Donterrious was not playing well.

But in the Cincy game EJ had a high ankle sprain in the 1st quarter, he played the rest of the game. But it looks like he is not going to be able to play in the Saints game, so DT will be starting this week.
What we've got here is failure to communicate.

I am not a huge fan of Ricky Williams talk either, but this the O-line makes the back talk is kind of hog wash. Williams ran for 1600 yards behind what many would call a less than stellar Miami O-line, as well as over 1000 behind very sketchy N.O. lines earlier in his career.
Lots of great backs do a lot with average to bad lines ...
Does a solid offensive line make some average backs look great? Sure. (see Denver), but a great or good RB can often make a O-line look better.
I mean if you really think LT, Edge or even Fred Taylor could not put up good numbers in Minnesota in spite of the line then you must think RB is a very unimportant position.
