Multitalented group not receiving corps of old
Multitalented group not receiving corps of old
The 2009 Vikings appear to have wide receivers who possess many talents, with each player's skills complementing the others'.

IS it just me or does it seem like "Booby" Wade is very press friendly.
It seems he is always trying to justify his existence and usually more talk than substance.
Interesting how he uses this article a vehicle to justify his place on the team for the upcoming year.
My opinion - the article does position Wade as the posession receiver in 3rd down situations, but it seems that the younger Viking receivers may be suitable replacements.

I bet we keep 6 WR's this year, we'll see. Wade's days as a Viking could be numbered if we only keep 5 guys.

Just as long as Jamar Johnson stays he looks good, and will easily contribute as special teams and 4th WR.

Both Darius, and Jamar are pushing for a spot, and that spot could be Bobby Wade's to lose."PurpleTide" wrote:

No way they cut Wade, he's been our most consistent receiver in quite a long time, If you cut him, they're putting all their faith into Rice making a comeback, Harvin being an instant contributer and Jaymar/Darius really performing well, and if they think that will happen, then I ask, Why hasn't it happened already?"misplacedminnesotan" wrote:

Those are all fair assumptions but nowhere near sure enough of a thing to get rid of the guy that's been our leader in receptions since coming here.Skol Vikings! Go Cubs!

If Wade is sent packing, it will be towards the end of the preseason and only if the younger guys show that they have surpassed him on the field. Personally I don't think he will get cut but I will concede the possibility is there."PurpleTide" wrote:

Wade has been solid since he got here.
He wasn't brought in to turn out the lights, he was brought in to move the chains...and he does that.
I almost never see a Bobby Wade drop.
In order for him to become expendable, either he has to drop off his production, or someone else has to step up.
When the top three become Berrian, Rice, and Harvin, and they establish some consistancy and stability, THEN I can see Wade being expendable.
Right now, however, he's the only one who's guaranteed DEPENDABLE, and we can't afford to cut that loose just yet.

Yeah ... All this talk across this site of Wade getting cut is not just a little off, it is laughable.
There is a ZERO percent chance that Bobby Wade gets cut. Hell, most publications list him as our No. 2 still.
Berrian, Wade, Harvin and Rice are LOCKS to make the roster, meaning that Johnson, Reynaurd and Holt are fighting for the No. 5 spot and the No. 6 spot if the keep that many.
