The agent for former Vikings running back Moe Williams said it is presumptuous to assume his client will retire.
"It's not clear that he's retiring," agent Ethan Lock said Tuesday. "That's not accurate at all."
Williams, charged in the wake of a team boat party on Lake Minnetonka last fall, was found guilty of disorderly conduct last week.
He was acquitted of two other misdemeanors, indecent conduct and lewd or lascivious behavior. He was accused of touching the breasts of a dancer in a public space during the boat cruise.
Williams, a 31-year-old unrestricted free agent, has played 10 seasons in the NFL, nine with the Vikings.
For his career, Williams has rushed for 1,826 yards and 21 touchdowns in 132 games. He has caught 154 passes for 1,511 yards and four touchdowns.
Turf guru hired: The Vikings announced the hiring of George Toma, a nationally renowned field turf expert. He will work as the team's field consultant at the Winter Park practice facility.
Toma has been the NFL's turf consultant for every Super Bowl and was honored by the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001 when he received the Daniel F. Reeves Pioneer Award.
The Hall of Fame's announcement called him the "sport's preeminent groundskeeper."
Toma also served as the head groundskeeper for the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals for several years, and he worked on fields for the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
"We are extremely impressed with George's knowledge and abilities," Vikings vice president of finance Steve Poppen said.

Re: Moe Williams may resurface
Is there any possibility we sign him back?
Signing him might not be a bad idea is the asking price isn't too high. I mean our running backs are very, very young right now. Who better than Moe Williams to be that saavy vet?
At the same time. The backfield is pretty crowded and may be even more crowded after the draft (especially if Cajun gets his wish). There is a bunch of untapped potential from Echimonde, Fason, and even Taylor.
When Moe does retire, I think he would make a great RB coach someday."I hate when threads are destroyed by facts and logic."

Sean Jensen, of the Pioneer Press, reports agent Ethan Lock said Tuesday, April 25, free agent RB Moe Williams (Vikings) has not formally retired and may return to the NFL. "It's not clear that he's retiring," Lock said. "That's not accurate at all." Williams will have to find an NFL team willing to sign him.

Re: Moe Williams may resurface
I wonder if the Vikings are thinking of bringing him back with the news that it may still be awhile before Onterrio Smith comes back. I wouldn't mind seeing him come back, however I think it is equally as important to start getting the young guy (Fason) more involved, and possibly the third down specialist that Williams was..

Re: Moe Williams may resurface
If they draft a running back, then I say don't sign him. If they don't, then I say go for it.
I doubt he will get signed by anyone because of the his triple threat...
1. Coming off injury
2. Showing signs of his age
3. the whole love boat thing
My guess is that we could tell him to keep in shape and "when" Moore gets hurt, we can bring him in a an injury replacement.
Thanks Lotza!

Do you not realize that for the last 4 years he was only making $666,000 for a salary?
I may be wrong, but that's pretty close to the league minimum for a running back.
For what he's done in those 4 years, he should have gotten a bonus.

Re: Moe Williams may resurface
Moe is the ultimate team player. So hopefully he realizes that he is best suited in the Vikings organization as a less prominent job, such as ankle-taper, gatorade-filler, or paper cup re-filler.

I stand corrected, I didn't realize, and I don't know what the f!!ck I was talking about. I was not suggesting a pay cut by any means, and I love for Moe Williams has done for the Vikings. So, if he still wants to play, what is holding us back from re-signing him. I was under the impression he was retiring all along, so I thought nothing of it, but not that I am thinking, ehy not bring back Moe?"V-Unit" wrote:

Yeah yeah I know in the NFL thats chicken feed but it is still a lot of money. Heck, he could buy 222,000 galons of gas with it :shock:I.B.O.T. #213
