Mock Draft 2.0
32.
Vikings:
Travis Lewis, OLB, Oklahoma – Somehow Travis Lewis falls this far in my mock draft, and it is unwarranted.
Lewis is very highly regarded.
Plus, the Vikings like to bring in rookies to fill positions of need for not that season but for the one season out.
Remember drafting Tyrell Johnson a year before Darren Sharper left?
Or Sullivan a year before Birk left?
Well, in 2011 Ben Leber is a free agent and Lewis would provide the Vikings with an easy transition.
I don’t view OLB as a huge need, especially considering the depth, but Lewis would be a true value pick here.

Re: Mock Draft 2.0
Nate Allen S USF
Overshadowed by Berry and Mays.
Could fall to us.
He's a hell of a player.

Probably so it's not like the Favre, Childress, or Jackson issues where you have to go through hundreds of pages to find what you're looking for after everything gets merged together."Zeus" wrote:

As long as we can all agree the Vikings will be picking 32nd, there is no reason to not start this thread."Marrdro" wrote:

Minnesota Vikings: Travis Lewis, OLB, Oklahoma
Weakside linebacker is not a need for the Vikings, but Travis Lewis, a possible top-15 prospect, is the best player available here. Ben Leber will be 31 in December and he'll be entering the final year of his contract next season. A dynamic talent like Lewis could push Leber for playing time right away and become a force on Minnesota's defense as a mere rookie.
Pick change; previously Ryan Mallett, QB

http://www.draftcountdown.com/sub/Mock-Draft-B.php27. Minnesota Vikings: Terrence Cody, DT, ‘Bama
Cody fits in perfectly with the Vikings defense. He is a HUGE run stopper and will be a great player for the Vikings defense. Cody is the top Run Stopper in any position in this 2010 NFL Draft and worth a late first round pick.

MINNESOTA VIKINGS:
COLT MCCOY, QB, TEXAS
Colt McCoy | Texas Longhorns
Scouting Report
After months and months of speculation the Vikings finally signed Brett Favre but he is merely a stop-gap solution, at best. Minnesota’s relentless pursuit of the future Hall of Famer was a clear sign that they didn’t have much faith in either Tarvaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels so they will likely be in the market for a new signal caller in the near future. Texas’ Colt McCoy is a controversial player and while you can’t question his college resume there are still some legitimate concerns about him as a pro prospect. On the plus side he has adequate size, is an above-average athlete, extremely accurate and earns rave reviews when it comes to his leadership ability and work ethic. Colt McCoy | Texas Longhorns On the other hand he does not have a great arm and doesn’t exactly play in a pro style offense for the Longhorns. McCoy may not be the Top 10 pick that some have made him out to be but there is a chance he will come off the board late in round one. The Vikings could also be on the lookout for another defensive tackle to eventually replace 37-year-old Pat Williams and don’t rule out a versatile running back who can be a receiving threat if they lose Chester Taylor in free agency.
