Missed practice time starting to concern Childress

Missed practice time starting to concern Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress

MANKATO, Minn. The mounting missed practice time for Vikings running back Adrian Peterson and wide receivers Sidney Rice and Percy Harvin - three key performers in the team's offense is drawing mild concern from coach Brad Childress after the first week of training camp.

Take all the time you need boys. Coming in around the 2nd or 3rd pre-season game should be fine....

    Right Brett?

Afterall, it's you they'll need to work with on timing & routes.

Plenty of people here shouldn't have a problem with it, but I'll bet most of them will have their double standards & nickels for the Excuse-O-Matic.

Call it a double standard if you want to, but there is quite a bit of difference between someone's 20th season and someone's second.

And this would be Favre's 2ND season with the Vikings, not his 20th.

    Big difference.

To be fair he did OK in his first season after missing TC.

On the other side of that, as I'm sure has been said several times, Favre opened against the Browns and Lions last season. This year it's the Super Bowl champs and the Dolphins.

I think the team will be fine with 2 - 3 weeks of pre-season games and practices. If they wanna take Favre's games any further than that, they're idiots.

Huge difference, he was told to take his time from the coach and ownership

Correct. And that means he should be able to get up to speed with the Vikings even faster than last year.

What do you think Favre would be doing in training camp right now anyway? Working on his timing with Ric- I mean with Harvi- I mean with Peterso-... Oh wait...

Would I rather see Favre there? Of course. But I don't get my undies in a bunch because he isn't. If he has proven anything, it is that he can still perform without doing two a days.

Brett being gone is the best thing that can happen for a developing QB and since this is only TJ's fifth year in the system he can use all of the reps he can get with the first team. This kind of quality practice time might speed up his development to less than a decade.

Ummm...the guys who are "missing practice" are all on site (Except Harvin).

    Adrian - sore legs.
    Rice - PUP list.
Harvin - Death in the family.

These guys aren't simply not there...there are specific and valid reasons for their absence.

This isn't even a "story"...just typical preseason media drivel.
