Minnesota Vikings odds to win the 2006 Super Bowl
I dont know if this topic was ever discussed before...
Many NFL prognosticators believe the Minnesota Vikings could win a Super Bowl championship this year. At +1250 odds, this is one future bet that could see a generous payout.
Miami Beach, Fla. (FV Newswire) - sees tremendous value in taking advantage of the Minnesota Vikings Super Bowl odds. A number of experts have suggested this is the team to beat. Oddsmakers at www.mvpsportsbook.com have the Vikings listed with +1250 payout odds. In other words a $100 bet pays out $1250 should the Vikings win while a $10 bet would pay $125.
Sports Illustrated's senior writer and NFL columnist in early June tapped the Vikings to reach this season's Super Bowl, and with training camp set to begin, his thinking hasn't changed.
"Bottom line is I sort of look for teams that are going to make that next step," King said. "This year, to me, I just really like what the Vikings have done in the offseason, and I like the way their season ended last year. I like the fact they're not going to have the constant soap opera that is Randy Moss. I just think they're that team to make that next step this year."
www.vipsports.com actually has the Vikings odds to win the 2006 Super Bowl listed at 18 to 1 or a $100 wager pays $1800 should Minnesota win.
"We are not about making daring predictions on who will win this year's Super Bowl," commented Thomas Jensen, Marketing and Media Director for Gambling911.com. "Instead our mission is to make readers aware of the value that is currently out there. A number of "experts" strongly believe that the Vikings have a serious shot at getting into the Super Bowl. The pre-season payout odds posted by online bookmakers such as MVP Sportsbook and VIPsports.com do not necessarily reflect this opinion."
And neither do all sports writers share the opinion that Minnesota will end up in this year's Super Bowl.
The Eagles are the preferred pick of most preseason magazines and online bookmakers alike to represent the conference in a second consecutive Super Bowl.
In fact, both VIPsports.com and MVPSportsbook.com have Philadelphia listed with 5 to 1 payout odds or every $100 pays $500 to win the 2006 Super Bowl. Philadelphia, Indianapolis and - surprisingly - New England are each listed as the three teams to beat this year with 5 to 1 odds. The Patriots have lost a number of key components but are still viewed favorably by bookmakers.
Pro Football Weekly, The Sporting News and Street & Smith's all predict the Eagles to beat Indianapolis in Super Bowl XL.
"Minnesota is not even in the top three most likely to win the NFC Conference Championship," Jensen pointed out. "You can still get 9 to 1 odds of the Vikings winning this conference while Philadelphia, Carolina and Atlanta are each listed with more favorable odds to win at VIPsports.com."
Philadelphia, while certainly a contender, has had many off season distractions. More specifically, the Terrell Owens factor may come into play where locker room politics often have a negative impact on team performance.
While not everyone will agree that Minnesota is heading to this year's Super Bowl, few will argue the energy in this team's locker room will be anything but positive.
"They have a new owner and many fresh faces to help boost up the defense," commented Jensen. "Volatile players such as Randy Moss and Chris Hovan were shipped to other teams. It is not surprising that so many pre-season prognosticators have the Vikings on their radar this season
