Re: Mike McMahon the next Rich Gannon?

Ultraviking brings up a good point - McMahon did not have a great supporting cast.

I think it will be interesting to see what he can do if he gets a chance.

mcmahon is a joke... i really don't see him going anywhere except thrid string for his entire career...i think childress just wanted someone who can send his plays out the QB accurate and get his water when he needs it.

i think mcmahon if needed to fill in, will do an adaquate job. this season thre will be an amazing O line, so he won't be rushed. there are good recievers to throw to, and hopefully a good runningback to hand off to. plus one thing about mcmahon is he's got some scrambling ability so if he gets in a tough situation he might be able to scramble or rollout.

if BJ goes down early in the season, then we'd better start looking at kerry Collins if he's still a FA. but i really don't think it will come to that.

When McMahon came into the league with Detroit, he scared me. Only problem for him was DETROIT. When is the last time they had a QB for crap. I say a victim of the system. I think with the right opportunity and coaching, he can be very solid.

Lets just say this.. He will learn worlds more from BJ then he ever did from any of the QB's that he has been backing up since coming into the league. McNabb may be the new generation of QB's, but a BJ he will never be. BJ has excellent poise, and can read any defense with ease. McMahon will learn all he needs to know from BJ.. If McMahon wants to learn from a great NFL QB, then he made the right decision signing with Minnesota.

Let's just hope that he is ready to step in the breech IF (God forbid), Brad goes down...otherwise we are screwed!!! So say your prayers, fellow Vikings fans...that McMahon is much better than we think...just in case!!!

McMahon reminds me of Rich Gannon. I think he might have some upside. Thoughts?
    I like him.

And as I've said before, he's never been given a fair shot. He showed flashes of excellence in Detroit even though he was only given clean-up duty behind Charlie Batch and the games he played last season with the Eagles were nothing more than lame duck games by a team in disarray after the TO debacle. If he's given a chance as a Viking, he's gonna prove the naysayers wrong.
Interesting insite...This is very possible! (Think positively!)

roger that, who cares. if were hopin that mcmahon is some hidden gem then we got more problems than i thought!!!! now that were stockpilin talent on defense. the last thing i want to worry about is our 2nd stringer. johnson is long shot enough.

there sure are a lot of naysayers, hmm lets look at it this way. jeff george, warren moon, and randal cunningham all had good years here. what makes people think mcmahon is complete garbage and he won't do anything? even todd bouman had some great games here. as far as im concerned if a quarterback can't play good as a viking he really sucks.
I don t buy Wisconsin cheese.
