    Metrodome Roof Collapses Under Snow

    Metrodome Roof Collapses Under Snow

    http://kstp.com/article/stories/s1878695.shtml

The snow and wind has proved too much for the Metrodome roof.

Roy Terwilliger, Chairman of the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission, tells 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS the panels of the Metrodome roof started giving way around 5 a.m. and deflating.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) The weight of all the snow that fell Saturday has caused the roof of the Metrodome in downtown Minneapolis to collapse.

About half of the panels on the roof are down.

The Minnesota Vikings and the NFL are meeting now to try to determine what to do about the game against the New York Giants. The game, which was originally scheduled for today at noon, had earlier been moved to Monday evening because of the snow.

The Vikings are planning a press conference at 10 a.m. Watch the news conference live on WCCO Sunday Morning and here on WCCO.COM

I still think the most reasonable thing to do would be to schedule the game at TCF stadium on either monday or tuesday night. The difference is seats is 15000, but if that is what you need to do in order to get the game on our homefield we will do it. I don't want to be playing this game in NYC.

I definitely agree, better for 15,000 people to miss out on the game, than for 65,000 to miss out on it. Plus, New York shouldn't get an additional home field game.

With the previous talk of the Vikings being re-located to Los Angeles, how much more likely do you think something like this is in making it happen?

What if they cannot repair "in time" for it to be reasonable to hold the game this week? (And assuming TCF is not used)

There is a playoff race on, and the Eagles would be NOT HAPPY if the Giants got a "bye" going into their next game...

The intrigue is awesome to contemplate.

If the Metrodome can't be fixed in a timely fashion I think TCF would be the best choice although temperatures supposed to be -10 degrees monday night. Should make finding volunteers to forfeit tickets easier.

Adds a little fuel to the new stadium fire. Bet Wilf is doing a happy dance.

They mentioned that this morning, but said TCF is an open stadium and the temp for Monday night is estimated at 10 degrees below zero.

I hope they kept the insurance payments up on that thing.
