With McNabb, Vikings are the 2011 Team of Destiny
With Donovan McNabb at the helm, Vikings are the 2011 NFL Team of Destiny
In the NFC North, the Packers are the defending Super Bowl champs, the Bears are the defending division champs and the Lions are supposedly the young team on the rise. The Vikings — 6-10 a year ago — are destined for 6-10 again, according to the experts.
Fiddlesticks.

Re: With McNabb, Vikings are the 2011 Team of Destiny
My favorite part of this whole offseason is the supposed lack of weapons at WR on our team... well Percy is in year 3, will see the most tosses his way, and now has an offensive coordinator who seems to have imagination with his playmakers... (did I mention he's in Year 3? )So I’ll take my chances on McNabb and Adrian Peterson and Percy Harvin. I’ll take my chances on new Coach Leslie Frazier, figuring he’s more Don Shula than David Shula. I’ll take my chances on the Vikings bringing joy to Minneapolis-St. Paul and Couch Slouch, USA.

No one has a problem with Harvin being a weapon, if the migraines don't return, but I don't think they'll use him as a balls out deep receiver.

I agree.
Destined to be 6-10 once again.

First, why would you use him deep? Second, why is everyone looking for a deep threat?

I don't. I honestly believe that we are a solid 8-8 team. With a little luck, even better...

You would use him deep because he is fast enough to create seperation.

No one is saying play out of the west coast. We are aware it will be mostly dink and dunk. But you also need to take shots
Doesn't need to be Harvin everytime but he is able to run streaks

Re: With McNabb, Vikings are the 2011 Team of Destiny
Hit that on the head V4L.
People talk about Harvin like he has never made a play on a deep ball. And like he does not have the acceleration and speed to go deep. He CERTAINLY does.
Jerry Rice was not a "balls out deep receiver" but I think he could be counted as quite the weapon.
Percy is not just a weapon, he is a HUGE weapon and I personally think he is going to have a monster season in the new offense.
BTW, I LOVE Norman Chad's columns in the Post. They are always funny and clever. And this one fits the bill fairly well. I just hope he is right.

I actually think that BB, PH and Jenkins will all get shots at going deep. Its going to be available just because of the scheme and who the RB is.

Re: With McNabb, Vikings are the 2011 Team of Destiny
Maybe I personally overate Bernard Berrian's deep ball prowess, but now that we have a qb that can actually throw the deep ball in stride (sorry Farve backers) we'll see if his '06-08 form can be rekindled... we also have two more than capable receiving options at the tight end position...
