    McKinnie Avoids Trial

    BRYANT MCKINNIE AVOIDS TRIAL
Posted by Josh Alper on March 12, 2009, 2:11 p.m. EDT

Minnesota Vikings tackle Bryant McKinnie’s request to enter a pretrial diversion program was granted by the state of Florida and a judge on Wednesday. As a result, he will avoid a trial on charges stemming from a fight with a bouncer outside a Miami nightclub in February 2008.

He must complete 25 hours of community service, anger management sessions and avoid being arrested to fulfill the program’s conditions. His lawyer, Larry Kerr, said all four of the charges, including one felony, will be dismissed if he successfully navigates the program.

Looks like I was wrong on this one.
Too worried about what might happen, but he got out of it (mostly).

Well, good for McKinnie and the Vikings I guess.

It is the little things that might help cure this offseason hangover so far.

Good news...I'm looking for McKinnie to dominate this year. Get this behind him...and maybe stay away from the tittie bars.

    McKinnie enters pretrial diversion program

    March 12th, 2009 – 9:43 AM by Chip Scoggins

Left tackle Bryant McKinnie was successful in his attempt to enter a pretrial diversion program to avoid trial stemming from a fight outside a Miami nightclub last February.

McKinnie, who faced four charges, including one felony, was set to go to trial on Monday, but the state and judge allowed him to enter the diversion program during a hearing on Wednesday.

The conditions of the program include: 25 hours of community service, six sessions of counseling for anger issues and obviously he must avoid being arrested. The program could take up to a year to complete, according to his lawyer, Larry Kerr.

Kerr said all four charges will be dismissed if McKinnie successfuly completes the program. McKinnie served a four-game suspension by the NFL last season for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

“Bryant is very appreciative of the support he’s received from the Vikings, his fans and his family and friends throughout this process,” Kerr said.
