McKinnie
Anyone else think he needs to step up now and fill the expectations of his new contract? I have seen way too many d linemen get by him and I haven't seen alot of consistency in his run blocking. He will just demolish somebody on one play, opening big holes for Taylor to run through but just quit playing on the next, allowing the defender to mak a big play against us. I have always been a fan of his but maybe my expectations have been set too high. ???

Re: McKinnie
If he continues to learn from his mistakes I'm ok with it.
If he goes idle I'm not.

Re: McKinnie
I agree that his play has been somewhat up-and-down so far this season. Matt Birk seems to be havng a quiet season so far too. Hutch on the other hand has lived up to his paycheck and Hicks and Johnson are quietly playing mistake fre football. Hope the line settles down and gels by mid-season.
I almost choked on my soda when we had Mewelde blocking Peppers. That was just brutal!Halo 4. Start another fight.

Re: McKinnie
I'm not worried yet, it's only week 2.
If he's strugling in 3 weeks then there is a problem.

I didn't see him manhandle anyone on that line.
I hope we get another disection and some video cut up
by someone to prove me wrong.
That is just my opinion.
I remember Carstens busting the gap between Hutch and Birk to get the tackle.
I hope it is in fact a gelling issue and not talent.

Re: McKinnie
In all fairness, he was blocking Julius Peppers.. That guy is a beast, and one of if not the best DE's in the NFL.. McKinney won't manhandle everyone in the NFL, so if he wins most of his battles, then I am fine with him.. He didn't play the greates today, but they got the win.. That is all that matters..

Re: McKinnie
Oh yeah I remember that play! That was a great play by that guy. I was a little suprised that we didn't double team (with TE or RB) Peppers more often. Hope this was a good learning experience as we prepare for arguably the best defense in the league next week.I remember Carstens busting the gap between Hutch and Birk to get the tackle.Halo 4. But McKinnie is what he is like all players. He has strengths and weaknesses.
He has slow feet and fast players can beat him like a drum. That's a good reason to have Hutch inside of him.
He won't ever be a great run blocker because he is too slow.
But he can be a great pass blocker with Hutch inside to help out.
This line doesn't pull or do much misdirection.
I think we will do more of that as time goes on.
It is up to the coaching staff to figure out what attributes this line posesses to allow a succesful running game.
Lining up 7 yards in the backfield and running up the middle doesn't appear to be getting our moneys worth from this line.
And no one has said it yet but...Birk needs to step up!“What takes a quarterback to the next level is not arm strength or mobility or any of that stuff. It’s the ability to play on critical downs. Manage third downs, or red zones or four-minute or two-minute situations"
