Re: Matt Birk weighs in as man in middle
Before this thread went sideways there was some pretty intresting information in the articles.
Birk looked cut and light before training camp last year.
He got pushed around a little last year at times.Manhandled in the trenches.
He made the pro bowl; wink wink nudge nudge.
I'm pleased to hear he is not only heavier, but stronger.
That combined with a years experience in the system and with Hutch should add up to another probowl slam dunk this time.
Quotes
Especially when we've got our two big guys inside, against Pat, you can see that his strength is back," Morris said. "I think any time you come off an injury like that, you've got to get a feel for where your body is. He's got more awareness of where he is and he's stronger."
Williams, the Vikings' 326-pound defensive tackle, said Birk looks like the Birk of old again.
"He's a whole lot stronger than last year," Williams said. "He's feeling good, he's pulling good and holding up on his blocks and everything. He's one of the top centers in the league, no doubt. It's all about smartness. Birk always makes the right calls. You can't fool him."
PS Zeus, you have to drink lite beer if you where the Phat jersey!
“What takes a quarterback to the next level is not arm strength or mobility or any of that stuff. It’s the ability to play on critical downs. Manage third downs, or red zones or four-minute or two-minute situations"
