    Matt Birk

Since he landed on the new billboards its quite noticeable he is in shape and cut. Wether that translates into a comeback is yet to be seen.

Just curious as to what you all think of his chances of returning to a pro bowl-caliber performance in 2006? IMHO the guy stood his ground and has a lot to prove to himself this year, that he made the right choice to sit out and remain loyal to the organization. Not sure who is gonna carry the load at RB, but with Birk at Center, I like our chances and BJ's of less sacks than last year.

I hope that he returns to pro bowl caliber ... I personally think he should have played last season ... and was a little upset that he didn't ... but at the same time I knew where he was coming from.
I think that he could be a key cog to us running to a NFC North title with a left side of the line that is feared across the NFL.

Birk is a veteran leader and I think he is the key to this offense coming together, because any offense only goes as far as the offensive line. Birk represents the link between the guys who have been on the team and Hutch. When these guys mesh I think that our offensive line can be the best in the league. I am also confident that he is in shape, the guy had the opportunity to watch and learn hich he does more than almost any lineman in the league, and in so he began to recognize such things as Strahan's re-imurgance due to cutting weight and working on his speed and quickness, not only is this a benefit on the field, but it is a benefit for any person who is doing any sort of rehab.

I got ants in my pants and I can't weight to watch the draft.

I think Birk will make an instant impact because he has such a knowledge of the game that the Vikes have been lacking since he's been gone. He's such an intelligent player, and is more than ready to lead by example. Remember, he's the guy who makes all the offensive line calls for the Vikings. It's Birk who raises his hand and shouts "FIRE! FIRE!" when the blitz is on.. And it's Birk who leads the team from the point of attack in the trenches.

He can easily do it. He will be a little bit rusty in the first 2 or 3 games and then it will all come back to him.

    I love that guy..

I, too, can't wait to see the Draft.. And more importantly, what Childress has to see in training camp.

He will be the Birk of old.. That guy has gotten huge. Did you see the size of those arms? Good to see that he was putting his time off from football to good use. He is in great shape, and ready to play. Two very good things if you are a Viking's fan..

    Re: Matt Birk

geez, i never knew how huge that guy was. i think he will be the most dominant center in the league this year because now he doesn't have to play with an injury. i'm sure he didn't lose anything mentally and he seems to have done nothing but work out all last season and the offseason. we will be amazing at O line this year. if we can pick up a guard in the draft who can start fairly early in the seaason then we're laughing.
