For many Vikings, closing arguments await

Though the Vikings' stars won't play in Friday night's preseason finale, against Dallas, those fighting for jobs still can state their case.

Brett Favre, Adrian Peterson and the remainder of the Vikings' top-line starters figure to have the best seat in the house for Friday night's preseason finale against the Dallas Cowboys. Nothing more.

Coach Brad Childress said Wednesday he has seen enough of many of his key players, and he isn't going to take a chance of one of them getting injured only nine days before the season opener in Cleveland.

But that doesn't mean tonight's game is meaningless.

    ...

Here is a look at where some of the more difficult decisions could come:

Are Wade and Cook really "on the bubble"?
Does anyone else think Allen will definitely overtake Sapp's job during the season?
    Skol Vikings! Go Cubs!

The Vikings must trim their roster to 53 players by
Saturday afternoon. Here is a look at how staff writers
Judd Zulgad and Chip Scoggins think the roster will look
    by position.

    Quarterback (3)

    Brett Favre

    Sage Rosenfels

    John David Booty

    Running backs (4)

    Adrian Peterson

    Chester Taylor

    Albert Young

    Naufahu Tahi

    Offensive line (8)

    Bryant McKinnie

    Steve Hutchinson

    John Sullivan

    Anthony Herrera

    Phil Loadholt

    Artis Hicks

    Jon Cooper

    Ryan Cook

    Wide receiver (6)

    Bernard Berrian

    Sidney Rice

    Percy Harvin

    Bobby Wade

    Jaymar Johnson

    Darius Reynaud
    '

Vheck the rest of the list out but the offense is more interesting

    Cook should be gone.

Wade should be safe but who knows. Do we take a cap hit if Wade is cut? I haven't deen any younger guy stand out enough to replace him yet.

    so 4 RB's and 6 WR?
    Unlikely.
And we're not keeping any Tight Ends?
I wasn't aware that was an option.

Some tough cuts looming, I wonder if McCauley is going to make it. Keeping Booty, and trading TJ could come back and bite us. Anyway you slice it, good football players are going to hit the free market. Wonder whoi other teams are going to release, and could someone help us off said waiver wire. Hmmmmm
