Man of the 'House: Brad Childress
Childress Has "Balls"
Why he's the Man ...
Coaching in the NFL, to be frank, takes balls. You've got tough decisions to make, players to get tough with, the media to handle, the boss to keep happy. But there's having balls, and then there's having extra-large, gorilla-size balls. The kind that bulge threateningly from the 7-inch inseam of that stylish pair of polyester Bike coaches' shorts, the kind large enough to crush nation of nonbelievers.
Well, if last Sunday is any guide, Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress is lugging around the lattermost pair. The Vikes were down by a touchdown in the fourth quarter to the Panthers (presumptive NFC champs, by the way), and Childress called a fake field goal that would rely on Ryan Flipping Longwell to roll out and hit the tight end 15 yards downfield.
That's just what happened. Longwell calmy rolled out to his right and threw a strike to tight end Richard Owens, who fell into the end zone for the tying score. Minnesota, of course, would go on to win the game in overtime.
So thanks in large part to that impossibly gutsy call the Vikings are 2-0 and in the hunt. That's why we call Brad Childress the Man for this week.
What he's done ...
As mentioned, the first-year coach has guided the Vikings, despite no Daunte and no Randy, to a perfect start. (For the time being, we'll assume Childress had nothing to do with those wretch-inducing new uniforms.) That's certainly revved up Viking Nation and has them thinking playoffs.

Re: Man of the 'House: Brad Childress
Whats funny is Childress was probably about 2 field goals away from being a spineless failure in some people's eyes, so it just goes to show you how much 6 points is really worth.

So true.
Either way, I'm glad the Vikings are FINALLY winning the close contests.
It's about time.
Re: Man of the 'House: Brad Childress
The good teams win when they aren't playing well...so I have a lot of hope for our team.
The Bears should be a good measuring stick on how good we actually are.

I think you may have that inverted.
The Vikings should be a good measuring stick as to how good the Bears are.
Sure, the Vikings have plenty of room for improvement, but the have already beaten formidable opponents.
Unlike the Bears.

True.....questions will definitely be answered after Sundays game.
Childress has improved things on our team...and I would be saying that even if we had lost the first 2 games....they just seem more organized..if nothing else.
It's nice
seeing a sideline shot and not
seeing Tice with that lost and bewildered look on his face :-\

Give it awhile.
Let the fans gather the wood for the pile they plan to set a blaze and toss him into.

Ain't that the truth but then thats true of anything whether sport, work, life etc. There is a certain amount of luck needed along with the hard work, planning and execution. Here's hoping that we haven't used all of ours up already for the season
