So are you trying to say he made Daunte sour about being a Viking.Childress stated this team will be a "Disciplined" team, but yet:
1)
We are the most penalized team in the league.
2)
We are still missing tackles far too often on "D".
3)
Our special teams stunk on covering kicks.
4)
The right side of our "O" line is swiss cheese when it comes to pass blocking.
Not a Disciplined team, place blame solely on the Head coach ... no case to be made for him.
The locker room is in shambles and this is also because of CHilli's attitude of my way or the highway ... he lost this team this season IMO, and will have ALOT of work to do before he gets it back.
OK, I am trying to put words in your mouth.
About 1 through 4, we were pretty close to that last year too.
We had a lot of sucky areas.
Maybe it is players on the field.
I know BC had a chance to bring in some new players, but there are still a lot of playersout there that are leftovers??
Daunte did his own thing, that's why he is gone.
He forced the organizations hand.
That's just it.
1-4 is the same as last year, when Childress stated in his opening press conference it would not be the same.
But yet, we still have the same questions unanswered.
If not more questions to address, WITH a worse record than last year and an easier schedule.
Not to mention, Childress had an owner that allowed him to:
1) Spend money freely in the F/A market (chester, hutch, etc.)
2) Bring in a TON of assistant coaches and such
3) Rebuild and upgrade the facilities.
And yet somehow, it feels like this team and organization is in a worse spot than this same time last year.

Re: Making the case for Childress
His total lack of imagination on offense is VERY old now too. He played T Jack today like he was Brad Johnson. When the game was completely out of hand and there was no way we could win, he cut the offense loose and what happened? Two TD's in a matter of minutes. We all want to see what the rookie can do, but with the season being totally lost and the chike chain being put on Tarvaris, is that really a good indicator?
WELL, I LL ASK HIM, BUT I DON T THINK HE WILL BE VERY KEEN. UH, HE S ALREADY GOT ONE, YOU SEE.

Re: Making the case for Childress
Can we at least take this into consideration: With Tice we were the laughing stock of the NFL, sports radio topic fodder.
Now we're just another bad team.
We cleaned up all of the off the field problems and that is a start for sure.
Also I heard that Matt Birk loves the direction the team is going in from the announcer in todays game. That puts childress up a notch for me..

Agree to disagree! Why do people say you can't compare them, yes you can, coaches can always be compared by the success of their teams, and how their teams look. But, you can't realy compare them.
Personel choices are different.
Also, doing the same (Tice), without change (BC and the WCO) may not have been the long term best decision.
You have to ride out the storm.
Another thing, the team never looks fired up during games unless we get a big play by somebody on the defense, and look how many players have spoken against some of the things going on, yeah we heard what Matt Birk said today from Boseli, but if he said anything else his @$$ would be cut.
And on the WCO part,
it is a great system when run propperly, but we cannot seem to do that, and he needs to do much improvement on that for next year.
Somebody also mentioned alot of the players are leftovers.
Remeber those are the same leftovers that took us to 9-7, yes it is a different system, but did the WRs we have fit Tice's system last year?
Did BJ?
No, his system before was Culpepper deep to Moss.
But he made it work with what he had left.
You can compare them all you want by record.
But the players and coaching philosophies can and will be different.
Tice had better personel.
I don't care how you put it.
Last year without the star WR and under the direction of Tice was a complete debacle.
The only saving grace to the 9-7 season was the Defense and Special Teams being so optimistic.
The year before that, was part of the Moss/Pepper era which sadly has put a film over everybody's eyes as to how good we had it.
All I (we) can really do is get behind the guy that Wilf chooses to run this team and be optimistic about the future.
I (we) can't change anything.
The enthusiam is lacking, Chilly is a flatliner!

Re: Making the case for Childress
I'll agree to disagree.
However i have one last comment.
The only personel that Tice had that was better was Moss and Pepper.
He had way less talent untill last year when he got Sharper and Pat.
And he also had gotten Winfield and KWill before that and they were the only productive members of the Vikings defense.
Now we are much better our Defensive personel is much better and also that of RB and OLine.
I hope your not taking it personal with all this arguing against you snow!

If you can compare them by record that is all that matters.

Re: Making the case for Childress
The more I think about it the more Childress shine is wearing off on me...
Maybe it was Jamie and Olson in the chat but I'm questioning whether the players are pulling a Les Steckel on Childress and have given up on him.
Was Childress our rebound coach, we got rid of Tice and brought in a Tom Coughlin (much like Steckel) type to patch up our ship.
We had a new line, run game and retooled D.
We started off stronger then I thought we would, lost a close game against Bears, Bills slipped away from us and then the Pats stomped the pooh out of us with the pass and we never fully recovered.
O line never completely gelled and the passing game on both sides got worse.
Should we bump Tomlin (Tomlin did seem to be the only coach able to motivate players) up now or lose him to another team like the Steelers and try and replace Childress in week 10 next year when veterans start giving up on him again.
I don’t have confidence in Childress making adjustments with the Vikes next year as he wasn’t able to do it in the second half of the season.
I think after this season and this nasty lose I’m starting to flip flop and worry about next year being the same or worse.
I now feel depressed ??? ???

And Childress chose to get rid of that personnel, Moss was already gone, but he decided to dump Pep. Who BTW is the most accurate passer in the history of the NFL with 2500 or more pass attempts. I heard that earlier and just thought I'd put it out there.I'll agree to disagree.
