looking For a Place To go Eat/Drink Before Sunday's Game

I'll be coming up from Rochester, Mn and was looking for a place to eat/Drink before the game which would provide a shutttle to and from the game, parking would be nice also.

The Admin invited me to the tailgate but i want to watch the early game, do people usual have TV's in the tailgate lot ?

Anyway go Vikings and if someone could help me out with a spot ( not huberts) for before the game it would be appreciated.

Re: looking For a Place To go Eat/Drink Before Sunday's Game

I am not a native from the MPLS area, but I think that this is the easiest answer one can give.

It will provide a choice of restaurants without having to park downtown.

    Mall Of America!

I have eaten at Chevy's on the south side of the MOA.
It is good if you like Mexican.

    MOA eating directory:
    http://www.google.com/search?q=Mall+of+america+restaurants&rls=com.micro soft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7

    Metro Light Rail Map:
    http://www.visitingdc.com/airports/minneapolis-light-rail-map.asp

The light rail is about 25 minutes into the Dome.
It lets you off right by the PPO tailgate.
Considering I spent $20.00 on parking downtown last week and spent a ton of time after the game on Washington St and I-35 stuck in traffic , the light rail is the cheapest and fastest way to get in and out of downtown.
I would have taken it but I had some items to bring to the tailgate.
I use the light rail in Boston, I am a fan of it.

You can always take the light rail in to the Nicolet stop and there are some good restaurants over their also.
There are some nice sports bars downtown where you could watch the early game.
I think there are a few on Washington and then they is Humphry's just across the street from the dome.

I hope that someone local can add to this with some specific eatery ideas.
Might help if you specify what type of food/atmosphere you want.

There are TVs at the tailgate and heaters. Bring some burgers or whatever to cook on the grills and eat there. Then wash it down with a cold beer. You can bring beer to the tailgate. Saves money and is a blast.

    That is out on I-494.
The Nicollet stop is by the Nicollet Mall downtown.

I am not doing that bad for someone that lives out of the state.
    LOL!

I think marstc09 has a good idea..... I haven't been to a late tailgate before, didn't think about the TV idea.
    Dress warm.
I do have to say I was impressed with the way the canopies held the heat in from the propane heaters.

8th street Bar and Grill is good.
Lots of tap beer, cheap drinks, and their Buffalo wings are great!
(also walking distance to the dome)

The most fun thing to do is dress warm and come tailgate with us.

The 2nd best thing to do in your case is to go to a bar near 7 corners.
There are several in one tight area.
You can park either at one of the bars or in the HOliday Inn ramp and they have shuttles going to the dome...or you can walk, it's not that far.
