In summation, we need a new coach.

Seriously though, if he can't win with the talent he had this year... when do you expect him to win?
Well, I'm sure looking forward to another season of broken-record CMac's insightful hate posts. That's for sure!
    lol... hateful or true?

I guess it's easier to call it "hateful" after everything I've been saying was proven right. Easier than calling my opinions "informed and correct"...

    lol
Your definition of "good coach" includes one qualification and one only: that he was won a championship. But what level of championship is acceptable for your criteria? Only a national championship at the college level, for example?

Childress was on the staff at Wisconsin when they won a Rose Bowl and were Big-10 champions. That doesn't count, though, right?

What championship has Sean Payton won? Or Rex Ryan?
The Rose bowl is a championship? Interesting... so Ohio State are the Rose Bowl Champions this year? Wow... here's a question: Who cares?

I'm talking about a National Championship... not a bowl game that no one remembers. Calling those things "Championships" is just funny. Who is the State Farm Bowl Champion this year? lol....

Hell, if Childress had at LEAST coached a HS team to a state championship, that would be something at least... unfortunately, we can't even say that about our coach.

Either way, it's not worth arguing. You go on believing Childress is a good coach. I'll go on being right.
You'll go on being delusional, nothing more.

    =Z=

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

    That is a GREAT idea!

Last night was the worst night of my life. I would rather go through all my breakups five more times than this shit again. I'm in Bronco land, at a boarding school, and literally EVERY SINGLE PERSON (except the dean, vikings fan) was rooting against the Vikings just because I talk a lot of trash. Now every single person in school is giving me shit and it's ridiculous. I'm getting crap from COWBOYS FANS. I can't deal with it. So I decided to focus on next year, as this year is over...

What we need to do next year

-DO SOMETHING ABOUT ADRIAN! HE DOESN'T EVEN DESERVE A NICKNAME, FIX HIS FUMBLES!!!!!!
-Get a new RG, we have a young, talented line, (except for Hutch, who is old, but still amazing) and Hererra is our weak link. I think our o-line will be much better next year
-Do something about the secondary, its shit
-Address QB situation, I would love for us to draft Bradford, McCoy, or Clausen if any of them fall to us, and hopefully have Favre back for one year for them to learn from him.
-Sign Kampman, Edwards had a great game against the Cowboys, and I think 1 sack against the Saints, but we need a DE that can take advantage of the double teams that Allen gets, and Kampman could do just that. Imagine Rodgers running away from allen and kampman, LOL
-I think we need a KOS, I know theres debate about how its not worth it, but look what happened to percy two weeks in a row, he was all but neutralized by booming kicks into the endzone, and I can't remember the last time Longwell has kicked a Touchback.

Thats all I can think about right now for what we need to improve. If you have anything, or just want to focus on some positives for next season, feel free to share them here. There are lots of threads talking about the game, but it's over, and now we just have to wait. Painfully wait....
I don't even know where to start with this post...

    1) Herrera had an off year, I agree... but to throw him under the bus? Frankly, I'm far more worried about Sullivan and I'm guessing, if analyzed, we'd see a lot of Herrera's problems were bleed over from Sully. I thought Sully did a great job working with Favre to identify line protection, but I found Sully to be a horrible blocker. He just plain doesn't have the size to be an NFL center, he can not stop interior penetration by big physical DTs and it showed time and time again. I'm worried if he has the physical make up to succeed in the NFL.

    2) The secondary is shit... the same secondary that held the top ranked offense in the NFL to under 200 yards passing? We play the Cover 2, that's a scheme, a scheme that gives up a lot of yards. Our secondary plays the scheme well. If you have a problem with our secondary, it's not the players, it's the scheme... you're basically saying toss out Frazier and replace him with someone who will play more man. The problem is, outside of Griff, we have no CBs who can play man... WRs run away from Winnie or jump over Sapp. Allen? Come on, he's an undersized rookie. The Cover 2 fits our team with sure tackling DBs (and sometimes safeties) and a D Line that can consistently get pressure without blitzing. Ced can occasionally man up when needed to.

    3) Yes, the QB position... because those QBs are all sure fire HoF'ers right? Drafting a 1st round QB is a gauranteed SB... just ask Alex Smith, JaMarcus Russell, Brady Quinn. Yeah, even Sanchez or Stafford. We already have a young QB on our roster that can outplay any of those QBs and frankly it's not worth sacrificing our entire draft (which we'd need to in order to move up from 30) to take a hail mary on a big name QB in the 1st round. If TJack has learned from Favre, and I believe he has, Chilly will find a way for him to be successful.

    4) Kampman... great, another edge speed rusher... and who's going to contain the run? We've already had it shown you can run on the edges against us... you want to make that problem worse with an undersized DE on the left? If you're doing it just for passing downs, we already have Robinson to fill that role. We don't need to spend the money on another pass rush specialist.

    5) And which spot do you suggest we eliminate to create that new roster spot? We're only carrying 2 QBs on game day. We had a game where both Load and McK were out at the same time and every healthy O Linemen we had was on the field. We needed the depth at D Line cause Phat Pat isn't an every down guy and we like those guys fresh. Our backup LBs and DBs are our primary special teams guys... all this to accomplish what, a team that starts at the 20 instead of the 26 or whatever our average was this year? I'd be very curious to see what the average starting field position was for teams playing the Saints versus what we gave up. I'd be hard pressed to justify that few yards with the loss of a roster spot.

What do the Vikings need next year... hmmm...

    1) Berrian to stay healthy and to improve. He played like a bit of a pussy much of the year, afraid to take the hit. Vikes had big plays, but rarely scored on them... part of that is Favre couldn't lead receivers, part of that is our receivers used size to make the catch instead of speed to create seperation before the catch.

    2) AD to learn his role. AD was the offense his 1st 2 years, it was on him to score, to win the game, and he developed a running style that reflected that. Basically, he became an all or nothing back. Either he'd bust it for 30+ yards, or he'd lose 3. That's not what we need now. We need forward movement, not a home run. We need 2nd and 7s, not 2nd and 12s. He needs to start hitting the hole he's assigned, taking the yardage available, and going down... if he breaks it, great... if not, we have a few more downs to get the 1st.

    3) Harvin needs to develop into an NFL receiver. Harvin is fast and he's quick... but he's not ellusive. He has the physical skills to be a Reggie Bush.. to be a Bryan Westbrook... unfortunately he seems ready to accept contact much quicker than either of those backs. I think he needs to develop a bit as a runner in the open field. Speed isn't enough in the NFL, you need another element I think he needs to develop.

    4) Play calling. It finally started at the end of the year but needs to improve... specifically, our running plays. We started to do some delayed hand offs, a bit of misdirection. We need to continue that sort of stuff and make it a staple. I'd like to see more shotgun hand offs as well. AD isn't a patient runner, allowing a bit to happen before he even has the ball is a great way to allow gaps to emerge and force him to be patient.

    5) Defense needs to work on the big play. Our O was great (apart from the Saints game) at keeping the ball... I believe we lead the league in the minimum amount of giveaways... unfortunately our D just doesn't seem to make a lot of big plays. Teams like the Bears and the Saints are ball hungry, they go for it on every tackle. I don't see that in us. We need more gang tackling... more aggressiveness in getting to the ball carrier, and more moves to get the ball on the ground. We rely on our D Line stripping the QB and big hits to free the ball too much, we need to do more.

    6) Reynaud needs to mature as a PR. Basically, he needs to start catching the ball. Way too often do I see punts kicked away from him bouncing and rolling for extra yardage. He needs to get better at getting over and making the fair catch.

I think if we do those things... we're in great shape.
The true measure of a man is what he'd do knowing he'd never be found out.

Vikings coach Brad Childress says he won't set a deadline for the 40-year-old quarterback to decide.
Childress also said Tuesday that cornerback Cedric Griffin will have surgery to repair an injured left knee and might not be ready for the start of next season.

As if that deadline would have any credibility anyways.

I just quoted that part because it was more relative to the title of the article, the part that worries me is Griffin's knee...
