Vikings offensive coordinator Steve Loney accepted the job as Arizona Cardinals offensive line coach this morning.

Loney received an offer to coach the Arizona offensive line after interviewing with Cardinals coach Dennis Green on Thursday. Loney hoped to speak to new Vikings coach Brad Childress before accepting the offer but was not able to.

"There's something to be said about being wanted," Loney said.

Loney, 53, became Vikings offensive coordinator before last season and was also the team's offensive line coach. He has coached with the Vikings since 2002. Loney was offensive coordinator for the Gophers from 1998-99 and at Iowa State in the same capacity from 2000-2001.

His daughter, Kylan, was an all-Pac 10 basketball player at Arizona State.

Congrats to Loney. This is a great offseason and the first game of the playoffs hasn't even been played yet.

Faces and Places will change.

Childress doesn't have a place for him. He will be finding guys that can implement his offense faster than Loney could. Hit the ground running. Just makes sense.

Loney found a good follow up gig to his tenure at MN.

An NFL source said Childress already has targeted his defensive coordinator, Eagles linebackers coach Steve Spagnuolo. Another possibility is Eagles secondary coach Sean McDermott.

Offensive coordinator candidates are Eagles quarterbacks coach Pat Shurmur and Packers quarterbacks coach Darrell Bevell. UCLA assistant Eric Bienemy could come on as running backs coach.

So right now we need a new offensive coordinator and a line coach and later maybe a new D coordinator this will be a complete change up.
