lions training camp part II: coping with the loss

boss bailey, a rising star on the lions defense, will be out 10-12 weeks because of a knee injury that is more serious than it first appeared. arthroscopic knee surgery done on bailey two days ago revealed more damage than originally thought. bailey has a history of knee problems which is one reason he fell to detroit in round 2 of the 2003 draft.

although bailey's loss will be felt, the lions have a couple candidates they believe could replace him this season. the front runner right now is alex lewis, a rookie who has done surprisingly well in camp so far and was pushing for a starting position on the weak side. now he may takeover for boss at the strong side. teddy lehman and james davis are also possibilities but lewis would be the ideal choice right now because lehman has been making good progress in the middle and james davis is more comfortable at willy lb.

I thought I read that Donte' Curry would now be taking Bailey's spot.

lions training camp part II: coping with the loss

yeah i guess alex lewis is hurt now too so davis will stay at weak side and donte curry will have to take over at strong. curry has not shown anything special so now i'm expecting a little less out of the defense
