You heard it here first, mark it down.
jargomcfargo predicts a break out year for TWill! ;D j/k
We heard that all last off season as well ! lol.

    Hope I'm right.

Do ya think they read PPO?
    That would be cool.

I'm wondering what you look like without the mustache.
When was the last time you didn't have a stache?
Do you use a standard razor to trim it, or do you have something electric from the Sharper Image?

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

I'm pretty certain they don't read your posts!
    ;D

Oh hell they don't read mine either! But I enjoy yours and I have a lot of fun here.

We honestly have an opportunity for a pretty good team this year.

I just feel a right guard could make a huge difference.

The open letter thing is a call to the hundreds of PPO experts to explain to me how the right side of the line is going to improve.

What I've seen so far are statements based on faith.

Given the fact I'm one of the biggest homers on this board I find it ironic faith isn't doing it for me concerning this issue.

I think that keeping continuity on the offensive line is important. I'm fine with a starting lineup of McKinnie, Hutchinson, Birk, Cook, and Johnson. All of those players have the physical tools to be great (I believe all are above 6' 5"), and after playing together for a year should gel a lot better. If not, trade Dwight Smith and Mewelde Moore for Alan Faneca
    ;D
I think that Cook will be the RT this season...and Hicks and Johnson will battle it out for RG...hopefully Marcus hit the weights this offseason!

I like the trade idea...in theory...but we can't afford another contract like the one that Faneca wants...he wants one like all the rest of the FA guards got this season.
So forget about seeing Faneca in purple and gold.
My sense is Cook will improve at RT and do a decent job.

I think the line as a unit will improve with time.

But this statement that Johnson is going to excel at left guard is like saying Troy Williamson is going to become sure handed this year!

Where did Childress or anyone else say he would be moved to guard? I must have missed that.

Johnson was benched last year and Hicks doesn't pass protect.

    So the question remains.

Give Johnson a chance to make the transition...he has another year under his belt..and has probably gotten stronger...not to mention the fact that he can learn from one of the very best in Hutchinson.
BTW, Hutch is the left guard....Johnson would be playing the RIGHT guard position.
I think that he can develop there...especially if Cook continues to improve as well.
Hicks is there to pick up the slack...and they do have some intriguing other choices for backups at tackle...including that kid from Wyoming that they just picked up in FA.

So, it's not perfect, but I think it's evidence enough to keep the 'stache.

Last year Childress said " it all starts upfront."

But last year it appeared to , all END up front. The pass protection was atrocious.Especially on the right side of the line.

Not upgrading the right side of the offensive line marginalizes the potent offensive aquisitions you aquired in this draft.
I agree with him 100% & have been saying it for weeks. We need solid proven players on the front line, not marginal players, players put in a starting role learning a new position or another teams castaways. They moved Johnson to right tackle because he was baten at guard. If they move Johnson back to guard & start Cook at tackle, who backs up Cook? There is not another tackle on the roster. Nor is there one to back up McKinnie if he happens to go down.

Unless quality guards & tackles are a dime a dozen for a UDFA, they should have at least addressed it later in the draft. I believe if another team has a quality guard or tackle, they are going to hang on to them rather than simply cut them to get to the 53 man roster. Unless of course, that team is deep in depth with quality players at those positions.
