In other words, the Vikings intend to sign a QB much worse than Ponder to avoid any QB controversy.Quote:
the Vikings want to make sure whoever comes in knows Ponder’s the guy.
“That would be the key,” Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said. “If the guy comes in and has the mindset that ‘I’m going to create a problem in the locker room’ because he feels he should be the starter, that would not be a good fit.
Perhaps Spielman plans to get A.J. Feeley back on his roster.
I've never understood why they constantly look to upgrade at every position except QB.
If the QB's confidence is so fragile he can't handle the pressure of competition, how will he handle the pressure of playing in the big game ?
Are we coddling a QB who may be a back up, at best ?
With out real competition it seems a lot of time is invested, and wasted, if you miss on a QB.
then again from my understanding of this years draft class is that there is not any special talent at QB coming out from there. That then means any potential upgrades via FA/trade will now have a higher price, so in a way we may be best sticking with what we know for the upcoming season - least in terms of the starter. As for the backup being much worse than Ponder then we're currently set at that position with Webb.
Yeah, they really tried to hide it by signing Favre.
BTW, it's not about how many years they had him. It's about how many starts he's had. See Aaron Rodgers with 6 wins in his 1st 4 years.
Jackson had 20 starts as a Viking. After 19 starts they signed Favre.
Ponder has already had 26 starts & they are still trying to not have anyone signed who could challenge him. I wonder if Jim Harbaugh regrets not following that philosophy..... Probably not.
