Lesnar Update and other vikes tid bits

Saw this on yahoo and lots of people have been wondering about his status. So here is an updated situation along with other viking info at the end of the article.

Lesnar to get a second look Former U wrestler unlikely to be signed

    BY BILL WILLIAMSON, Pioneer Press

The Vikings are planning to take a second look at former Gophers wrestling national champion Brock Lesnar, who is attempting to make the unlikely transition from pro wrestling to the NFL.

Lesnar has not played football since high school, but Vikings coach Mike Tice said Friday the team will give him a second workout sometime next week. Lesnar worked out for the Vikings and several other NFL teams in July. Despite the second workout, it is still unlikely the Vikings will sign Lesnar in time for training camp, which starts Friday in Mankato, Minn.

Lesnar is nearly completely healed from a groin injury that hampered him in his previous workout. He suffered the injury in an April motorcycle accident. Despite the injury, Lesnar had a strong workout for the Vikings, but the team is concerned about his lack of football experience — and reluctant to give up a roster spot for someone who hasn't played football in nine years.

A defensive line prospect, Lesnar's best bet is to develop on a practice squad. Lesnar, a popular pro wrestler, decided to concentrate on an NFL career this spring and has been working out extensively in Arizona.

Johnson cut: Granting a request by punter Eddie Johnson, the Vikings cut the 2003 sixth-round draft pick. When the Vikings signed veteran Darren Bennett in March it became apparent Johnson would be cut. The team originally planned to keep Johnson through training camp to take pressure off Bennett, but signed South Dakota's Flip Filipovic on Friday.

Johnson likely will be claimed off waivers despite having minor surgery on his lower body. He likely will be able to resume punting in about two weeks. Among the teams that need a punter are Cincinnati, Dallas, Detroit, Kansas City, San Francisco and Arizona. Johnson struggled last season and was replaced for the final two games of the season, though the Vikings kept him on the roster. The Vikings allowed Johnson's agent in April to gauge trade interest.

"Eddie and I really appreciate the Vikings making this move now," said Johnson's agent, Ken Harris. "The organization didn't have to make this move now, but they are allowing Eddie a chance to move on now in time for training camp."

Hoag signed: The Vikings completed a monthlong attempt to sign Minneapolis native Ryan Hoag. The receiver who played for Oakland and the Giants last season graduated from Gustavus Adolphus and was the last player chosen in the 2003 draft. The Vikings tried to sign Hoag in June, but because of complicated waiver rules, the move was delayed.

Briefly: The Vikings had discussions with their remaining four unsigned draft picks Friday but aren't expected to finalize deals until next week.

    • Former Vikings offensive lineman Everett Lindsay and Corbin Lacina are on the Vikings' radar and could be signed if there are injuries on the offensive line.

    • Fullback Charles Stackhouse was placed on waivers by Houston. The Texans claimed him this spring after the Vikings cut him.

    • The Vikings will launch a new Web site on Monday.

will Lesner try out for the canadian league or maybe a team will pick him up later to send to Europe league?

Or is it back to the WWE and will McMahon have him back?
What we've got here is failure to communicate.
