Leslie Frazier wants to put Jared Allen on a pitch count
And we wonder why we're 3-13... Leslie Frazier thinks it's a good idea to keep our best players on the sideline. Hope Harvin sees more than 40% of the offensive snaps this year...
Can we fire this guy yet? You don't win by keeping your HOF caliber players off the field. It's so obvious that you really have to wonder how Frazier became a coach at any level.
Leslie Frazier wants to put Jared Allen on a pitch count | ProFootballTalk
“We’re going to make a concerted effort to try to get him off the field at times,” Frazier said. “Without hurting the team. We don’t want to hurt the team. He’s our best pass rusher, one of the best in the NFL.”
Allen would prefer to take his time off during the practice week and play on Sundays. Frazier didn’t share the number he had in mind, but the Vikings have depth sufficient to move Everson Griffen to linebacker, so they obviously feel good about backups such as D’Aundrae Reed.Last edited by C Mac D; 08-03-2012 at 12:25 PM.

Absolute lunacy. Makes no sense at all. If Allen would prefer time off during the week in order to play every single play ... then that is what needs done.
Shit like this just makes me want to claw my face off. It makes no sense at all to not have Harvin and Peterson out there all the damn time ... and it makes less sense to keep your ONLY dominant defensive player on the sideline EVER unless he asks to come out.
It is the old Childress mentality of, "I know more than everyone else and I am going to prove it."
Just ridiculous.

Since he's big on limiting play time for players, perhaps Zygi can see to it to limit Frazier's coaching decisions as well.

He just needs a few more starts....
He hasn't had a quality team to work with....
He hasn't drafted HIS players yet....
He's been limited by the team he inherited...
He doesn't have any control over who gets drafted/signed....
He has too much control over who gets drafted/signed....
You're just being a hater....
...
...
See how stupid they sound when it's obvious to you that there is simply no excuse?
Frazier isn't the answer.
NEXT!!!!

I do not see a problem with Allen being spelled from time to time in a game. It is the when and how that is important. NFL players wear down, and Allen needs to be fresh late in the game.
If the Vikings want Jared to last, they should stop having him cover a sideline zone in a zone-blitz. Those get him winded for a few plays.

Allen is a professional, he is very well compensated for what he does.
Let the man stay on the field as much as HE feels is necessary.
Leber said on friday, wednesday is the toughest practice day during the week, let him take some time off there instead of sunday.
Jared had 22 sacks last season playing as much as he did, if he plays less, obviously his production is going to go down and we don't have to horses to pick up the slack.

08-06-2012, 07:49 AM #9Pitch count isn't in that quote from Frazier and isn't in the original article from Jeremy Fowler but is the the title Gantt ran with on PFT and Gantt added"We're going to make a concerted effort to try to get him off the field at times," Frazier said Thursday, Aug. 2. "Without hurting the team. We don't want to hurt the team. He's our best pass rusher, one of the best in the NFL."
with Fowler had originally hadFrazier didn’t share the number he had in mind
So it appears its not an absolute and is depentant on other factors like flow of the game as well as backups performance.Frazier said he has a snap percentage for Allen in mind, but the final count might depend on game flow and the development of backups such as D'Aundre Reed.
Gantt's reposting off the Pioneer article seems to have wonder a bit from the game variable
