    Kluwe signs tender

    According to the league docket, P Chris Kluwe signed his tender, enabling the Vikings to retain exclusive rights.

    In a completely different development, former Vikings second round draft pick Kailee Wong is expected to be released by the Houston Texans today. Wong was offered a lucrative salary to be a backup, but he refused and wanted to play elsewhere.

    After four seasons with the Vikings, Wong signed with the Texans and has become the team's all-time leader with 15 sacks.

    Good to hear about Kluwe, but if anyone wants to reply about Kailee Wong, please do so in the Wong to retire thread;

    I believe it is Cojo's intent to talk about Kluwe here, otherwise he would have mentioned Wong in the title.

    Cojo, if I'm wrong, forgive me.

    "Vikings punter Chris Kluwe averaged 44.1 yards in 2005 but slipped last season to 42.3, which ranked 25th in the league."

    44.1 yards in 2005 ranked him at #6

    42.3 yards in 2006 ranked him at #25

    What a difference 1.8 yards makes.

    Lets just hope he steps it up from last years avg. performance, and get it down with the directional punting.

    I expect us to improve our ST play this year as a whole. Almost all our draftpicks are labeled as good ST players one way or the other.

    Thanks to PPE for the sig.

    Kluwe definitely has the leg to be an elite kicker. If he can get down his kicking when he does not have to just boom it, he could be a good weapon.

    I remember when Landeta beat the buffalo vills is SB XXV when he booted a nice punt down to the 21 or something...
    so yep punters have been known to win games, widening the field for an opponent must be a nice job LOL
