Kluwe certain he'll be healthy by summer

good to see some of the injuries are fixing themselves...

    Kluwe's return

Doctors have assured Vikings punter Chris Kluwe he should be ready to resume kicking by training camp this summer, Kluwe said Wednesday.

Kluwe said he had surgery Jan. 31 to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. Dr. James Jackson of Long Beach, Calif., repaired the injury and projected a recovery time of less than six months.

"They said I'll definitely be ready by camp, if not sooner," Kluwe said. "It was a pretty clean tear. I've already started the rehabilitation."

As a rookie, Kluwe finished sixth in the NFL with a 44.1-yard gross punting average. He was hurt Dec. 4 against Detroit, missed a game, and then returned for the final three games. The Vikings did not reveal the extent of the injury until after the season.

What a guy. I truly like Kluwe. He is an outstanding punter, and will have a home with the Vikes for a long time.. Good to hear his surgery went well, and that he will be ready to go come training camp..

Speaking of punters, I hate to say this but the Packers signed another stud at that position. His name is Jon Ryan, and I metioned him a while before. He played the full 18 game schedule in the CFL for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and had something like a 52 yd average. And about once a game, he would bomb these rockets that would go like 70-80 yards. He was truly amazing to watch. He also showed the poise of a veteran, and whenever there was trouble and there was a chance for the punt to be blocked (the Bombers line was terrible) he always seemed to be able to get out of the way and run for a first down.

    Thanks PPE for the sig.

If that's BJ Sander you're talking about, yes, he's much much better. Sander was a below-average punter with a 39.2 average. Ryan set all kinds of records in the CFL for single-season punting avg, longest punt, most punts inside 20, etc.

    Thanks PPE for the sig.

With the Packers sh!t offense they will need a great punter.. I will still take Kluwe, this guy has alot of promise, and a long career ahead of him if he continues to produce like he did for us his rookie season..

LOL American yards  but anyway, it was really exciting to watch him punt, because every once in a while, he would just boom one 20 yards past where the returner was waiting.
