KFFL: Vikings | Offord on the mend
Vikings | Offord on the mend
Wed, 22 Feb 2006 06:18:01 -0800
The Star Tribune reports Minnesota Vikings S Willie Offord (knee) is on the mend from last season's knee injury. He was in Birmingham, Ala., Tuesday, Feb. 21, to undergo an examination on his left knee. "He very possibly could be fully cleared, not for contact, but for everything else," said Offord's agent, David Canter. Offord is set to become an unrestricted free agent in March.
I'd like to see him come back. He would probably come cheap too.

As a nickel back at best. i don't think the Vikes will bring him back. I think they are going in a totally different direction now. We will see in a little over a week.

He is a safety, not a cornerback. He would be a good safety in a cover 3. at his price, i dont see why not bring him back and maybe try him at lb, guy can lay you out cold

I'm not sure if he'll be back or not... we'll see.
The best part of my day is when I get down on my knees, with my head in my hands, and thank GOD for everything he has given me.

people see a safety hit hard and they think that they would make a good LB. there are only a few safeties who could play LB- Roy Williams and Thomas Davis are a couple that come to mind, but certainly not Willie Offord."thepacksux" wrote:

Offord played really well, he's keen on the ball, he can lay a good hit, and he's got the upper body str to muscle guys down.
but
He's a bit slow
experience needed!!
I'd keep him around, let him learn from our saftey's and move him in and our in situations.. this gives us a bit of depth..

He was pretty good on Special Teams this year until he got injured. I believe he was the ST-captain.

Thanks to PPE for the sig.
