    Kevin Kolb

Not that I agree with the trade, but some interesting points are made.

I really do feel Jackson needs a fresh start. I think we damaged his psyche the last couple of seasons. Not that I ever thought he would be a starter, or a star, but I think he was servicable in certain situations.

If TJack was rattled by his treatment here, just wait till the Philly fans get a hold of him.

    Couple of comments......

    1. Kolb isn't going anyplace. He is gonna be the Iggles QB for alot of years to come. Just because Vick is getting the extra start doesn't change anything other than they don't want to put Kolb out there to get killed because of the OL woes.

    2. TJs physche isn't damaged. Hell, its probably stronger for going through what he's gone through.

Said it before and I'll say it again. Any QB who can't handle a bit of adversity isn't gonna make it far in this league.

Based on what I've seen of TJ and how he has dealt with his short career, he can handle just about anything the press or the fans throw at him.

On a side note, why in the heck would we want the staff to trade him away if we believe he will suceed in a new place? If he is gonna succeed, wouldn't it behove us to keep him and let him succeed here?

    I don't know young lady.

Even though I have to agree with you on the Iggles fans, I am starting to wonder a bit about Vikings fans.

If, by some small miracle, we loose to the Lions, will we see the boo birds come out again? I, for one, was absolutely mortified when I heard them for the first time a couple of years ago. (Sad emoticon)

    Re: Kevin Kolb

The Eagles are not going to trade Kolb without giving Vick a significant raise and extension first ... so this talk is premature at best.

As for Jackson ... it does not matter where he is ... he will wither away. His best situation is actually here ... where he should be the presumptive starter next season. That is his only chance (barring injury) of ever being a starting QB in the NFL again.

    Marr....

I agree, I don't think the Iggles trade away Kolb, but it is a scenario that could make sense for both teams.

I am still not so sure that either T-Jack or Kolb are going to be stars in this league. I say that only having seen them in limited senarios in games. I don't sit in practice, I don't sit in team meetings, so my "body of work" as Childress says is limited.

I agree, maybe TJack is stronger having gone through this, but really, would you like to be told year after year you are the guy, only to see your team go to someone else? Remember, TJack is only 20 something, you and I are not. We are in different places right now.

    Interesting discussion, if nothing els.

    Good stuff my friend.

I don't know. I guess I am just of a mind that you need to groome a QB from the bench and then when you do bring him in, you need to give him time. That attitude came from eons ago when that is how they actually groomed QB's (actually all players).

Now for some reason, we are in a place were a guy (Kolb for instance) doesn't have a good half, gets injured, his backup does good, and everyone wants to jettison him to another team so he can have a fresh start.

Maybe that is the way of the future, but I sure don't like it.

    Re: Kevin Kolb

The Eagles won't trade him. That's that. He's been groomed for a reason. Reid still likes the kid, that's obvious. Parting ways with McNabb to have Kolb start said that much.

Him sitting this game out can have all kinds of reasons. The biggest one to me is this. If you pull Vick now, after two very good games, and Kolb stinks it up, you're screwed. Fans will be screaming for Vick and the "what if's" will never stop. Just let Vick play it out. He'll have a bad game or two sooner or later. Take your chance right then and there and put Kolb back in.

And even if he doesn't start, you get rid of Vick at the end of the season with some ridiculous PR statement and let Kolb have another shot.

At least he'll get some proper time to heal from his concussion. Something that NFL players never seem to get the time for, usually.

I don't think this trade is going to happen, but what else would we do if we didn't sit around and speculate with absolute authority?

I know there is already a thread going about TJack, but to add to what you said he has always impressed me with the way he handles himself w/ the press and fans. From the Strib: "It's been a negative vibe for me ever since I got here," Jackson said. "I do feel like it's kind of me against the world. So that's my approach."

I almost never boo at games; I'm too much of a softy and feel bad for a lot of these guys when it happens.

There's so much pressure now for QBs to come in and make an immediate impact -the 2008 draft comes to mind- no one wants to take the time to develop the position. I think Clausen and McCoy were lucky in that they were drafted by teams who had a starter in place, which will allow them time to develop and give them a better chance to succeed. Although it looks like Clausen will now be Carolina's starter.

I thought that was where you were going with the Kolb discussion. I wouldn't even want him. I would rather have Vick. He is quite simply a better athlete, better QB than Kolb. Just think if we had Vick, Harvin, All day! That is a whole lot of speed to try and match. Vick is starting in Philly because he gives them the best chance to win period. Everyone knows that. I don't know if Philly will sign him again next year. Vick is not going to want to be the backup there, when he can start here.
