    Re: Kelley Washington to Vikes

Lots of message board chatter out there. Must be something behind it.

I don't know him but a friend of mine does. He says Kelley says he's coming to Minnesota. I guess until it happens or doesn't happen take it with a grain of salt.

    Re:Kelley Washington to Vikes

Coming as in for a visit, or actually with a contract?

Either way, I'd be interested to see where he fits if it is true. He's not a #3 here, but I think he's better than Lewis, and him and JJ can battle it out for #5

I thought you might have a bit of insight into this.

Thrown at 45, receptions 34, 431 yards, 12.7 ypc....... Not bad considering the team he was on last year.

    Profootball Focus Stats

I'm not so sure I would want to be a WR trying to make this squad though.

    87 Bernard Berrian WR 29 6-1 185 7 Fresno State
    15 Taye Biddle WR 27 6-1 185 2 Mississippi
    13 Marquis Hamilton WR 23 6-3 222 R Iowa State
    12 Percy Harvin WR 22 5-11 184 2 Florida
    11 Jaymar Johnson WR 26 6-0 176 2 Jackson State
    17 Greg Lewis WR 30 6-0 180 8 Illinois
    11 Marko Mitchell WR 25 6-4 218 2 Nevada-Reno
    19 Logan Payne WR 25 6-2 205 3 Minnesota
    15 Vinny Perretta WR 24 5-9 186 R Boise State
    18 Sidney Rice WR 23 6-4 202 4 South Carolina
    85 Ray Small WR 23 5-11 180 R Ohio State
    14 Joe Webb WR 23 6-3 223 R Alabama-Birmingham
BB, El Syd, PH are sure fire locks. Leaves 2 spots open if they default back to a 5 WR set like they did before last year.

With the KOff Specialist taking up a spot, a glut of RB's that might take an extra spot, your friends friend has a tough row to hoe....

    Re:Kelley Washington to Vikes

    I see 5 WR, 3 'real' RB's, Plus Reynaud.

Rice, Berrian and harvin are obviously making the squad.
I see Lewis getting cut, Webb making it (possibly being moved to QB), Rosecopter leaving.

Of that, JJ is the only one left who made the 53 man roster. I don't know to much about guys like Perretta or Payne, but I just don't see us keeping 6 WR unless Webb stays a WR.

Washington signed with the Ravens last season after serving two years with the Patriots as a special teams ace.

Washington is a UFA though, it must have only been a one year deal.

Washington is a very effective WR and a very good blocker at 6-3 217ish , not flashy, but a good solid WR who would be very interesting in a 3WR set with PH and SR on 1st and second downs bringing that run blocking ability from the WR spot. Berrian wouldn't see much time unless he was healthy if we added a guy like Washington.

Good stuff Berk. I wasn't aware of his return prowess. Looks like JJ and DR (if he isn't really gonna make it as a RB) are gonna be looking for work elsewhere.

I know a few will be upset, however, other than some flash from DR on returns, they really didn't do much in the area of recpetions.
