i dont know about making rice the number 2 wr.
for one he gets to go up against number 3 corners most of the time and with his size and speed it's usually a mismatch.
plus i think they should just use more 3 wr sets, which it looks like they have been, cuz it opens up the running game and creates mismatches all over the field in the passing game.
but as maddro said earlier we have to be able to protect otherwise we can spread teams out a bit.
we did a solid job last game and whattayah know, guys were open, and everyone was getting involved.
lets carry it over to this week against a good pass rush, but a banged up defense all together.
He's a mismatch against #1 corners as well. There aren't many CBs that are 6'4 and can jump with him.

    In fact, there are none.

Good article and shows why a lot of people have faith in Rice. I understand Ferguson was brought in to
help TJ but so far he has done squat. I'd rather see the younger players get the balls thrown to them, they may not catch them all but in the long term it will help their development far more.
I'm looking for Rice to see more of the ball this Sunday.
The only noteworthy play Ferguson has had was the drop against Detroit.
The one where he was wide open and the ball just hit his hands and fell to the ground.
Rice has shown a great pair of hands.
    Get him the ball.

Re: Just add Rice: Offense looks for more from rookie WR

Rice IS the number one receiver on this team and is a star in the making.
I was at the Green Bay game. On TV you only get to see Rice once in a while. Usually when they throw the ball to him. But watching live it became readily apparent that nobody in Green Bays backfield could cover this guy. He was open on almost every play. Not only that. This guy has great hands and goes to get HIS ball. Barring injury, this guy will be a star on this team for many years to come. Bevell needs to recognize that fact and Tarvaris needs to get the ball to him.

We do have a pretty good set of receivers. Rice,Wade, and T-Will or Allison. And Schiancoe has been catching what has been thrown to him.
Ferguson should sit for awhile. The O-line needs to pass protect. And we might discover a passing game.

Re: Just add Rice: Offense looks for more from rookie WR

well he had some easy drops today, but so did wiliamson and wade.
not much shiancoe today which was interesting.
but the one catch rice made on the sideline was pretty ridiculous.
what i did like overall though was the we didn't go away from guys after they dropped passes, which over the last couple of years we have.
the corp as a unit was not good today but it was another week against a pretty good defense where you saw the plays were there.
we just gotta tighten up a bit more where we catch the football and put just enough air underneath the ball so that some of the plays that are there turn into tds.

He did come up with that fumble recovery amongst 4 Bears.
Rice had a couple of drops, but he had one great diving catch on the sideline.
