John Randle inducted into Vikings' Ring of Honor

Relentless Randle enters Vikings' Ring of Honor

By DAVE CAMPBELL , Associated Press

Last update: December 1, 2008 - 1:00 AM

[John] Randle became the 17th member of the Vikings' Ring of Honor in a halftime ceremony during Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears. [He] went undrafted out of a Division II school.... Texas A&I [now Texas A&M University–Kingsville]. With 114 career sacks for the Vikings, he ranks third on the all-time list behind Carl Eller and Jim Marshall.

Wearing his black warrior paint and playing with a relentless motor, Randle helped redefine the tackle position as a legitimate pass rusher in a spot normally reserved for oversized run stuffers.

It's great to have John Randle in the Ring of Honor.

Go Vikings!

Congrats to John Randle, 6' for life. What a motor...and a great role model for all undrafted players. I remember seeing a video of him outside of the house in which he and his family lived...a little shack no bigger than my garage. This guy embodied the will and spirit of the Vikings, and he will always be remembered as one of the best. Go Big Dawg!

Did you guys hear the stats on him?
Double digit sacks in 8 straight years... for a DT!
That's insane!
There's only been a single DE (White) that's been able to do that, but for a DT?
Now granted, we had some very good DE's helping him out at least a few of those years... but still... what a stat.
Would love to see him in there now beside K-Will and JA... the QBs knees would be knocking so hard he wouldn't be able to call out a cadence.
I miss watching him play.
He had so much fun on the football field.
The true measure of a man is what he'd do knowing he'd never be found out.

It was awesome to see.
Normally, I skip the halftime stuff to grab a smoke outside and take a leak before the 3rd quarter starts.
Last night, I hung out in my seat to see the Randle stuff.
His brother made a great - heart-felt speech, then Zygi plodded on before big John started talking.
Just amazing that an undrafted guy from Texas A&I (fer goodness sakes!) could have such a huge career.

Randle looked like he could still tear it up out there - I wish he'd been wearing the eye black with his suit and tie!

=Z=

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

Take a look at his stats compared to Strahans..........

And to think Strahan is considered a "First Ballot HOF'r".

Like the Pro-bowl, the HOF is a club full of "Who you blow" guys of late.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

Relentless motor, big heart with double digit sacks for 8 years..... The Pro Football HOF will open it's doors for this stellar defensive tackle. It was a joy watching him play.

I wish they would have shown that on TV. They showed a one second clip of him blowing the horn at the beginning of the game and then showed him on the sidelines later on but that was it.

He did look like he was still in pretty good shape. I miss watching him play.

Re: John Randle inducted into Vikings' Ring of Honor

This guy deserves to be in the ring of honor.

he did sooo much work for this organization and he was like the best DT to ever play. apart from reggie white when he would move to DT.

but congratuations Mr. Randle and hope you make the HOF on the 1st ballet!
