I'm simply saying you can stick him on the field, but I wouldn't expect the world. Until Simpson got arrested, he and Jennings were the better option in 2 receiver sets.
There are many super athletes, that can do amazing things with the ball in their hands, that can't cut it as a WR.
Devin Hester is one that immediately comes to mind. All-world kick returner, who the team can't use on offense, despite 8 years experience and 46 starts at the position.
While we might think it's time to evaluate the talent for next year, the coaches and players are doing everything in their power to win football games.
With Simpson's screw up we will finally have the opportunity to see if Patterson should have played more earlier or if he isn't ready.
I'd like to see Patterson get some more reps too. Experience is good for him, and who cares if we lose at this point!? For being so "raw," he seems to have good football instincts, like when he went on defense on one of Ponder's horrible throws and knocked the ball away from being picked off, and how he seems to get positive yards out of nothing most of the time.
Simpson is going to be in some trouble with the law for violating probation, and likely from the NFL, but, ye ole innocent until proven guilty may delay it for the most if not the rest of this season...
