So the NFL calls the hit on Williams legal, but if more & more players take those legal hits, the NFL might make them illegal?
So where will a player be legal to be tackled. The ankles? If they make intentional hits to the knees from the front illegal, which they should do, the head is out of the question, Where will defenders tackle a player. A CB that was interviewed on Mike & Mike said he doesn't like to hit them in the chest. The ball carrier tends to brace himself for the hit & in doing so lowers his helmet. If he hits him in the chest, even if he doesn't lead with the helmet & their helmets touch, he will get fined. So he avoids that.
I was always taught to tackle the waist and wrap my arms. The waist never lies, everything else does. Problem is you won't get those sensational big hit replays.
