EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) -- Minnesota Vikings defensive end Erasmus James doesn't look like he will take the field in the regular season anytime soon.....

Vikings: James not ready for prime time

The former Wisconsin star is not up to speed yet, and the Vikings don't want to rush him back, especially with productive options in Ray Edwards and Brian Robison.

The Vikings have made it clear they consider Erasmus James to be one of their starting defensive ends....

Vikings coach Brad Childress left the door slightly open for running back Chester Taylor to play in Sunday's game at Detroit, but it could be a while longer for defensive end Erasmus James......

Brad Childress said it’s too early in the week to say whether running back Chester Taylor (hip or bruised oblique) will be able to play Sunday at Detroit. “He’s coming along,” Childress after today’s practice. “Limited. Coming along.”....

What a luxury we have, being able to get Erasmus ready slowly. I bet when he gets back, we keep 5 active DE's instead of 4. Talk about fresh legs in the 4th Qtr.

You gotta love Adrian's attitude it's awesome, "200 carries might be too much". With Chester a day to day thing, I hope we don't put him back in too soon also. Let them both become healthy. Activate Moore, and let AD, Robison, and Ray Edwards rip this week.

It sucks James is so far away. Wasn't he playing in the least preseaon game?

Same with Chester. Away against a divisional rival is always a tough game and its tough to trust the rookie with so much so soon. This is the exact type of game the Chester excels in. I hope he can go, at least for 10 carries.

Why did he play in the preseason then? Obviously this is because we have other options. Chilly is foolish to say otherwise.

Here we go again, it's Childress' fault that EJ is hurt.

I don't think he's hurt exactly. He said before the preseason game that he was not in game shape and was experiencing soreness. I think he is just trying to get toned up and ready to go out there.

Childress just wanted to see how he performed a little in preseason, but no one is hurt.

Hopefully, we can continue to have success with our pass rush, so that Erasmus can have all the time that he needs to come back strong...the same can be said for our rushing game...we still have MeMo, who can be the change of pace back for AP.
