    James could Start

Vikings | Rookie James could Start
    Sun, 10 Jul 2005 14:06:29 -0700

USAToday.com reports Minnesota Vikings rookie DE Erasmus James could beat out DE Darrion Scott to be the team's starter at right defensive end. Vikings head coach Mike Tice has been so impressed with James this offseason, he has compared his pass rushing moves to those of former Vikings standout Chris Doleman. "Erasmus is everything we thought he'd be when we drafted him," Tice said. "He has tremendous speed, tremendous get off on the ball. I like our athleticism up front

(Figured he would start but being compared to Doleman, i did not expect()

Darrion Scott was only a third round pick last year so he was kinda rushed into duty (I really wouldn't wanna see Dustin Fox starting in his first year). I think that in time after a few years (or maybe even right now, I haven't really heard much about him this offseason) Scott will develop into a quality player on this team. Remember, he can play inside too so when Pat retires I'm sure he'll be in the mix for that spot (assuming that James passes him on the depth chart)

    Thanks PPE for the sig.

I agree CC, I hope 'Rasmus starts this year. I think his athleticism will help us a lot, especially if he can stay disciplined on the outside. Our line could be very beastly if he does that, no one will be able to run on us.

I hope he starts and has a decent year like Udeze did.. I think he could pull it off.. Supposed to be the best end in the draft..

He will be on our nickel package for sure, but if he excels and udeze becomes the every-down lineman that he can/should be... where do we get lance johnstone into the mix? the guy is a sack machine for only playing 20 - 25 snaps a game

I hope that they are all so good that we have to rotate them in and out....keeping everyone fresher and providing tremendous depth in case of injuries.

Lance Johnstone is the best Pass Rushing lineman we have IMO. That being said I am sure he will fall into a role like Pat Williams. Only instead of stuffing the run he will be rushing the passer.

Sorry to say but Pat Williams isn't going to play every down.

The best thing IMO is by having Johnstone who is a master in technique on the team with these two younger very promising talented ends is he can teach them the ropes.

And by having him rested, he will be even more of a threat. The guy is simply amazing. He has quickness and not just with his feet. His hands and arms execute some very crisp shedding techniques.

There is no way he will sit a whole game. Johnstone is just too good.
