Re: JA checks in at #80
I think the top 5 will be:
AP, Rodgers, Brady, Manning, and Tarvaris.I am NOT here to provide good football insight or rational observations. I am an emotional 19 year old Viking fan and I expect you to adjust your expectations from my posts.

If I had the money to take that bet I would ... AP will be the highest running back

If it were fan voting I'd be with Kevon, but players voted on this(I think), and I believe they all know that Adrian Peterson is a better player than Chris Johnson.

Re: JA checks in at #80
I disagree. Any player could come out, not just one at the same position. McNabb and Romo did not belong on this list at all, so there are two right off the bat.

OK, I can buy that, at least. If the players were actually paying attention enough to know who was out when they weren't playing against them. Possibly film study for future opponents plays a role here.Harvin has missed too many games to be on the list. Same with Rice. Both guys are talented enough to make it, but have not been on the field enough to be considered in the top 100 players in the whole NFL.
I'd hope that he's top ten. It's hard to guess, though, what the players thought when voting. I am convinced that there were many different interpretations among them as to just what they were voting for. Best players during the 2010 season? Best should-be players in 2011? Best body of work? Best RECENT body of work? Closest friends in the league? Who knows what any given player's votes were based on.Obviously, Peterson is going to be on the list, but how high? I
think he belongs in the top 10.
All I know is, the Vikings players were penalized for a poor team showing, where other teams were not.

Barring the obvious joke, you could be right. I kind of doubt it, though, at least int he cases of AP and Rodgers.

I'd put Brees, Rivers and Ryan and maybe Schaub or even Cassell (for the one season only) ahead of him right now. He could make it, though, based on his being the QB of the SB Champs. Will the players agree?
As for AP, again, he might, but putting him up there with three QBs and totally ignoring any defensive players, receivers, linemen... if it were a fan vote, yeah, fans are easily swayed by flash and big offensive plays. Players are not. They know who's good and bad, because they play with and against each other. Now, to be fair, I still believe that they were not clearly advised what criteria they should use, which lends to confusion, but all in all I think you'll see more grinders and defensive guys ranked highly than you would in a fan-based poll.

Re: JA checks in at #80
When the idea for the list came out, I thought maybe one or two Vikings at best. Besides Allen (who already on the list) and obviously AP (who will be on the list), who else is really deserving from last years performance? Maybe Hutch, but after that we do not have anyone deserving. Rice and Harvin you can make arguments for but like I already pointed out, injuries. No one on the defence is even close. I think I would have left off Allen as well. He is a great player no doubt, but he was freaking terrible last year.
