Re: It's the Vikings worst nightmare!!

The way I see it, Bears win 1 of their next 4. Atlanta & Pittsburgh beat them & they split with GB.

That puts them at 9-6 coming into our house on New Years Day.

We win 3 of our next 4. Detroit, LA & Baltimore & go into our last home game on New Years Day with a 9-6 record also.

With the division on the line & the home field advantage, we win the game & the division.

We don't have to root for any of your opponents, just sit back & enjoy the show!

Viking fans will actually have to become packer fans twice in the last 5 weeks of the season. I don't envy you guys.
Over my dead body will I ever become a Packer fan. As much as I want Chicago to lose against them, I still could never bring myself to cheer for Green Bay. It shall be interesting though :???:

I will never root for the packers to win. If we handle our business and win all of the remaining games, we will be in the playoffs for sure.

I don't care what anyone says, I'll be cheering for the Pack, it is simple, 2 wins against the Bears= good news for the Vikings, also = bad news for the Packers draft next year.

We can say what we want about how much we hate the Pack, however in the grand scheme of things it would end up only favoring us and our disdain for the Pack!!!

Hate me if you will, it is the best case scenario of them all!!!

    Cheers!!

If the Vikings beat the Bears on 1/1/05 & the Bears sweep the Pack & the season ends with Chicago @ 10-6 & Minnesota @ 10-6, what is the next tie-breaker & how does that stand right now?

That's assuming we both have the same amount of divisional wins.

I believe it's conference wins but I'm not positive.

The way I look at it, Bears fans want their team to win, in order to make it to the playoffs, so I'll root for them to lose.

Packer fans want their team to lose, so they can have a chance at Reggie Bush, so I'll root for them to win.

That way, neither team's fans will get what they want, and that makes me a happy Vikings fan.

TO BREAK A TIE WITHIN A DIVISION
If, at the end of the regular season, two or more clubs in the same division finish with identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps will be taken until a champion is determined.

    Two Clubs
    1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs).
    2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
    3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
    4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
    5. Strength of victory.
    6. Strength of schedule.
    7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
    8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
    9. Best net points in common games.
    10. Best net points in all games.
    11. Best net touchdowns in all games.

Re: It's the Vikings worst nightmare!!

Canada Viking is right. As much as I hate the Packers, I want to see them beat Chicago both times they play them. I'd hate to see the Pack get someone like Bush. Hopefully the Texans will lose out and get him. After that I don't know who GB will pick. I don't think they would go for a QB since they have Rogers. It's interesting.

I never want to root for GB but you can't chop off your foot to spite your leg. I root for what is best for the Vikings. If GB winning is what is best for them then so be it. My season is already complete since we beat them twice in regular season. So from one huge Viking fan to all of you, GO PACK!

Re: It's the Vikings worst nightmare!!

If the bears beat the pack and the vikings lose to the lions, the bears magic number would be 1, since they would win the tie breaker. This is because:

    1. head to head
the best the vikes can do is tie

    2. divisional record
    a bears win =4-0
    a vikes loss =3-2
again the vikes can only tie

    3. common games(12 games)
a bears win puts them at 7-2
a vikings loss puts them at 5-5
again the vikings can only tie

    4. conference record
    a bears win = 8-1
    a viking loss = 5-5
    Bears win tie breaker

This shows you how important this game against the lions is.

Re: It's the Vikings worst nightmare!!

The Bears are the team to beat right now. The defense is playing tough. I wouldn't put much faith in the Packers winning another game this year.

It will be hard for the Vikings to overcome the two game deficit to the Bears. The Bears beat Carolina and Tampa Bay, so it will not be easy for any team to beat them anywhere.

A good defensive team is better than an "all offense" team.
