    Re: It's Been a long time, I shouldn't of left you :)

I think both of you are correct.

Yes, this is a place for the common fan who may (or may not) know jack about football.
They should feel free to state their opinions in a somewhat logical way.

However, saying "Fire Childress" or "The play calling sucks" without at least attempting to put a rational thought in there provokes others to load their cannons.

I played HS ball, coach football, and take in all the high school, college and Pro ball I can.
I have no idea what plays are being called and I can only guess.
The coaches on the sidelines and in the booth see things in the game and they try to make adjustments they think best.
Hell, at every level coaches do this.
But at least formulate something other than "he sucks".

    DISCLAIMER:
None of this is directed at the originator of this post by any means...just a general statement.

"No where have I said that I know anything more than anyone else.
I know only what I can see.
I don't have any special insight.
I don't think it's too much to ask others to realize their own lack of knowledge."

    You haven't?
You appear to treat others like you believe you do in some instances.
They don't need to say they have a lack of knowledge before you feel better about their posts.

    Guess what?

We all get that we aren't the coaches.
But it does not preclude us from expressing our thoughts about any given down or any gut feeling.

We all also get that we are on a forum, though, about a team we all passionately care enough about to spend time here.

Because noone here is the pro player/coach/jock cleaner
means many perspectives can be valid on the same situation.

This isn't QA where an expected behavior is desired.

If that is your pet peeve, you know what?
    We got it.
Just like I tell others, move along.
The "playcall sucks" is not a battle you will win, so let it lay.

    I know what I see:
I can see this playcall performed terribly, and I don't care what its called technically.

    Example:
    "A draw on 3rd and 20?
    WTF?

That playcall sucks!! I hate that one."

Or: "Oh, 3rd and long, I bet Memo will be in, the D will know, and wham bam, no first down.
    I hate those playcalls."

(that was a goody from the first year of Chilly.)

    Or:
    Ohhh, a blitz!!!

Love when they make that call on first down!
Get up in that QB grill and rattle him!

I feel just fine saying that, and people may think I am wrong in those assertions.
    Oh well.

(And ultra that is fine, but how you address those pieces is a part of the issue.
Asking someone to give reasons why the say something is one thing, tagging off on them is another.
Not everyone is a long time member and knows how things roll around here.)

    Fire the Helmut Shiner.
I blame him for not making them slippery enough for AD to get 300 yards.

Your examples above are a tad different than "the play-calling sucks" and are PRECISELY what I wish people would do.
Point at a specific situation and analyze an example.

    Aside:
I hope anyone who feels that there is "special treatment" are watching Webby smack me around here.

Now everyone can hold hands and sing Koombya.

C mac D and Z - Would you be willing to do this at the Bears tailgate this year?
I think it would make an excellent video to go up on the new site.
