An Interesting Conversation
Yesterday, while in line at Union Station to pick up my monthly train pass, I was standing in line behind a woman in a Vikings sweatshirt. I was wearing my Vikings polo since, well, it being the day after we whumped the Bears, and me working in the loop in Chicago, I wanted to rub it in a bit. It turned out that she was not only at the game Sunday night, but was the mother of the Vikings' Assistant Special Teams coach.
We talked about the team a bit, and about Childress. She thinks it's absurd that anyone would want him fired since he's such a nice man. It was interesting to hear someone talk about him on a personal level. You don't get that perspective anywhere on the net or in the media.
I mentioned the site to her, curious if any of the coaches ever look at any of the fan sites out there. She said she couldn't recall her son ever mentioning anything like that, but that Zygi is real big into that stuff.
And lastly, in our short conversation, she mentioned that her son got a game ball Sunday night. So, congratulations to Brian Murphy for Sunday's game!

(Joking....well maybe not :'()
Chilly has grown on me. Sometimes i think we as fans fail to realize that there are people behind these positions and in real life I would hate for anyone to be fired.

Re: An Interesting Conversation
I'm sure Chilly is a great guy.
I can't imagine anyone reaching his position by being an a$$hole.
But that doesn't have anything to do with his ability to coach.
I think that the ST looked better Sunday then the way they did against Chicago earlier.
So give them a game ball.

Re: An Interesting Conversation
If Childress can get us into the playoffs after this mess, I'll gladly support him as our coach.
Will it happen? Who knows, may as well keep hope alive though.
I just don't know if Childress can get the team fired up to play after something like this.Disclaimer: I'm an idiot.

Re: An Interesting Conversation
If he gets us into the playoffs, he's officially a pretty good coach.
Losing the entire heart of the defense (Henderson, Williams, ...err...Williams) would devastate any team.
Particularly one that is based on being strong up the middle.
We have one gimp team and three very powerful, surging teams ahead.
Winning two games without those three key defensive cogs will definitely hint at some sort of coaching ability.
I've flip flopped on the guy, but when I hear stuff like "twisted steel and sex appeal", see that mustache and receive advise on how to shake All Day's hand, well, I can't help but root for the guy.
