    Re: Injuries -- a connection?

Although, I will say that more players take their time in getting back now because they do not want to risk millions of dollars getting re-injured. Twenty years ago Matt Birk would have payed and taken his chances, these days there is far too much at risk.[/quote]

That is a really good point. Its really astounding what those players in the 60's and 70's played through (as far as injuries). Unfortunately, a lot of those guys really paid the price later on in life - some of them can barely walk.

yeah, injuries are for the most part luck of the draw. However,I also believe if we played more games on natural grass we would have alot less.I,m thinking perhaps if we can have real grass in a retractable dome, they will be fewer.
If winning isn,t everything, why keep score?

Some years it just seems like the bad luck never ends and more guys keep going down. Other years your just as likely to have good luck and not suffer anything major.

Funny thing about that turf vs. grass issue. When they decided to install field turf in the dome, some of the players said they preferred that stuff to natural grass.

Sure would be nice to see some of this covered in the media. All you keep hearing about is how weak the NFC North is, but I bet if you looked at it, this division probably has the most starters out also because of injury ... but, as we all know .... that doesn't get reported when their is a point to be made with a quick sound bite on an NFL "Analyst" (term used very loosely) show or a newspaper to be sold.

Injuries are part of ALL sports.

The rigors of Spartan life. Leonidas is cast out into the wild, and survives the harsh winter to return to his home, when he is crowned King ....a Viking!

    i don't see a connection at all. that's a pretty big stretch. :???:

injuries happen no matter who the coach is or the sport, it's just part of the game. it's one of the worse parts, espically when a player gets injury and has to retire.

    Thanks Josdin

good point about the NFC north, if Rex Grossman and Jeff Garcia are healthy playing detroit and chicago would be alot scarier

Injuries are a undeniable part of football. I want to know who is going to come in and become "That" special player, the next unknown hero. We need a spark from the bench. Someone will be that player.... but who?

maybe it'll be James, man wouldn't that be lucky for us. i hope it's either him or Williamson. i think both of them have tons of potential they just haven't been on the field long enough to show it.

    Thanks Josdin
