It's a travel day for the Minnesota Twins, the start of the Minnesota Wild season and an appropriate moment to pause and focus random thoughts on Vikings — Minnesota's and more historical ones.

Andy Saur of Duluth is enlisting help from Iceland in an effort to get the Minnesota Vikings to change their kickoff song from Guns N' Roses' "Welcome to the Jungle" to Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song."

Since the latter is about Vikings coming out of "the land of the ice and snow, from the midnight sun where the hot springs blow," that would make the lyrics a better fit than references to jungles, Saur said. Nothing wrong with the Guns N' Roses song, he adds, but it would make a far better kickoff song for the Cincinnati Bengals, Carolina Panthers or Jacksonville Jaguars.

Stick with Welcome to the Jungle.

It's not like you even get to the lyrics anyway, and I think the more progressive intro of Welcome to the Jungle leads up to the kick perfectly.

I really like the song "Welcome to the Jungle" as I am a huge Gn'R fan.

However, I see the point of moving to "The Immigrant Song" since it is more along the lines of our team name and icon.

And also a lot of teams use "Welcome to the Jungle" in their intros and music, so having "The Immigrant Song" would make us more unique.

I'm torn between the two.
I just won't vote!

I think we should stick with GnR, everytime I hear the other song it reminds me of the video of the viking cats that used to be on the site :P

Or if you gave Ned a few beers you might get him to do this

I have to agree with NeoVikes in that a lot of teams are using "Welcome to the Jungle." I like the Immigrant Song. I think the fans would get used to it and the lyrics are easy to remember and sing along to.
