If Vikings don't find a vertical threat, opponents can sleep easy
Opponents can sleep easy if Vikings don't find a vertical threat
There seemed to be a collective sigh of relief among the Vikings faithful on the night of Aug. 27.
This came after Donovan McNabb connected with Bernard Berrian on a 49-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter of the Vikings' third preseason game against Dallas.

We then need an OL and a QB to get them the ball.

The first place to go to create/find a vertical threat is on the offensive line. Until they begin to play well as a unit, we will not have anything more than a rare deep shot to a receiver. Whether we have the talent in place now or not, I do not know. They may just need time to gel into a cohesive unit and fully pick up the new scheme. Maybe the talent level is just not there yet. We will find out over the course of the season. Until that happens, no receiver is going to fit the bill.
Why must you defend everything this FO does....to the point of making your self look like a yes man.

We need to try taking some shots deep. Preferably on early downs. Berrian can beat most corners downfield.
As PF said, we need the line to protect a QB who can get it to him. I think McNabb can get it to him with no problem. The line on the other hand is suspect. It would be nice if they could just "settle in," "find their groove" or whatever you want to call it. But I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Last week looked like the same combination of factors that made us a losing team last season. Every player has to execute perfectly if the defense knows what's coming. We need to keep Tampa on their heels if we want a chance this week.

Why does nobody else think Percy can go deep?

That's what people thought about Steve Smith too... people seem to believe a lot of stuff until they are proven wrong.
We should sign TO and reunite McNabb with his most successful WR. I realize this would mostly be a publicity stunt, but TO is hungry to prove himself. He still looked pretty damn good for the Bengals last year.... 983 yards and 9 TDs....

Isn't TO Fresh off of surgery and unable to play for quite some time?
