If not this Year... When?
When I woke up this morning I felt a wave of excitement.
September is almost here and I find myself thinking of positive thoughts of a new beginning for the Vikings.
The last two years I
feel we have had great draft picks.
I mean the names: Peterson, Robison, Greenway, Rice , McCauley, Edwards, Jackson, Griffin are the names I find myself analyzing and bringing a smile to my face.
All of the these players lack experience but have huge talent and could only get better.
Most of these guys are signed 4 or 5 yrs, and they will be dressed in purple for a long time.
Of course the reality is we were 6-10 last year, but what were the Saints last year with new young talent?
I feel a good draft and a little luck on limited injuries this year could bring our probable 8-8
to a 10-6.
But can the special teams work on tackling a little better?
If not, kick the darn thing in the endzone to start at the
20yd line.
I feel this dline and linebackers can cause enough havoc to retrieve the turnovers.
Greenway and Robison will be names to talk about this year...... so why not this year? Oh yeah, Love the Peterson pick.
things will get better.........Godspeed

Nothing wrong being excited as the regular season approaches. At least no-one can claim to know whats going to happen as none of us do and that's what makes the season exciting.Time spent annoying a Packer fan is never time wasted...

It really all depends on whether you think Childress is legit or not. IF yes, 2009. If no, 2012?

As to the above - if the Vikings had a guy who could kick it into the end zone, that's what they would do.

Re: If not this Year... When?
If the QB can establish himself this year or next... then I would say this year or next

If Jackson doesnt put out avg numbers then it dont look good.
Unless you can pull a Bear's season and let your defense/special teams win the game... (I prefer having a good offense to rely on)

I think every team wants a guy that can consistently hit it in the endzone and force touchbacks. It would make playing the Bears and Hester the Molester a lot easier. Mark my words, Hester will return at least one kick against us for a touchdown this year that will likely be the difference in the game."KevinK" wrote:

As for the original post...I agree that this team has some exciting young talent and a good foundation to build on. The fanboy side of me wants to say that we have a shot at the playoffs this year if Tarvaris takes care of the ball and plays well. The realistic side of me says that we will have trouble moving the ball.
We could be the surprise of the year this year....or we could be the offensive laughing stock of the league. I am not 100% sure there is much middle ground.

Re: If not this Year... When?
Hester will take it out of the endzone no matter what.
I think we should just kick it out of bounds and give it to them on the 40, don't even give him the chance of touching the ball.... it is Chicago's offense we're dealing with
;D
