I don't think Hicks has the size to play tackle. Or the skill.

The 6'4". He doesn't have the wingspan to play tackle, especially left tackle in the NFL.

And I'm not too sure what you meant by

All I'm saying is I know Hicks isn't great but he is a backup and adds good experince depth with the line, also who should be filling in for McKinnie?
It's not like the Vikes could have grabbed a high profile LT and recieved the same value for McKinnie with his history.
As far as buying a FA LT the Vikes paid a far bit of money for safety, WR, and DT.

I never suggested we go after a big name left tackle.

And you're right, Hicks is a solid backup, but not at tackle.

I think our best bet is honestly throwing in one of our young guys, I don't expect a superbowl or anything this year, but I think forcing a tackle to learn on the fly is a great thing for the future, incase McKinnie does anything else to get himself into trouble, or gets injured.

yo chitown.. what did he say about the upcoming season?

and.. yeah.. last time i saw a ViKing up close. it was Birk.. and i realized.. i'm no where near any football size.. i'll stick to hockey!!
