Who do you suppose we should trade him for?
Who do you think would want him?
Do you think there is a magical trade fairy that makes teams give up great players for wannabe's?
because that's the only thing I'd want to trade him for, is a great player.
Regardless of what some people here say, McKinney is a better LT in the league. LT is a hard position to play, so it will be hard to find a player of equal talent to replace him with.
Scary, isn't it?

I don't think Hicks has the size to play tackle. Or the skill.

It could be scarier the Vikes could throw a rookie out there.

I know he's no probowler but there aren't any teams that will give the Vikes a probowl guard without getting some big value going to them.

The 6'4". He doesn't have the wingspan to play tackle, especially left tackle in the NFL.
And I'm not too sure what you meant by

All I'm saying is I know Hicks isn't great but he is a backup and adds good experince depth with the line, also who should be filling in for McKinnie?
It's not like the Vikes could have grabbed a high profile LT and recieved the same value for McKinnie with his history.
As far as buying a FA LT the Vikes paid a far bit of money for safety, WR, and DT.

I never suggested we go after a big name left tackle.
And you're right, Hicks is a solid backup, but not at tackle.
I think our best bet is honestly throwing in one of our young guys, I don't expect a superbowl or anything this year, but I think forcing a tackle to learn on the fly is a great thing for the future, incase McKinnie does anything else to get himself into trouble, or gets injured.
