what about marcus johnson starting at RT
Q: At your age, can you handle a full season?
A: I m 37, number one. I took my family to Perkins a couple of days ago, and they didn t hand me a senior citizens discount card, so I feel pretty good.

That's who we got. Marcus Johnson. I thought we had someone else. Yeah, won't he start?

Re: How's the depth chart look?

I dont understand why we want to play Marcus Johnson at tackle.

He was considered the best Guard in the draft last year, if thats his position let him play it, make Goldberg play tackle, god knows he has the frame for it. 6'7 330, slow as anything, he's built to play tackle, and it's even better that he plays the right side, since he clearly isn't as skilled as Mckinnie.

IMO the line should look like this
LT Mckinnie, LG Hutchinson, C Birk, RG Johnson, RT Goldberg

Re: How's the depth chart look?

Rosenthal, Goldberg, Johnson, could be any of them. But who will get the start at RG, Hicks or Johnson? That could affect who plays RT.

Re: How's the depth chart look?

    Here's my take:

    qb-brad johnson/mike mcmahon/tarvaris jackson

    rb-chester taylor/mewelde moore/ciatrick fason/taurean henderson

Henderson is an UDFA from Texas Tech who is compared to Brian Westbrook...enough said

    fb-tony richardson/richard owens

It was already announced in minicamps that Owens is being groomed as backup FB

    te-jermaine wiggins/jim kleinsasser/richard owens/jeff dugan

Richard Angulo could still supplant Dugan as the 4th TE, but he hasn't proven much in the pros

    wr-(1)koren robinson/(3)travis taylor

    wr-(2)troy williamson/(4)marcus robinson/(5)aaron hosack

Really, the #5 WR spot is wide open. McMullen might be the favorite since Childress traded for him, but Hosack is a promising red zone target. Ryan Hoag and Chris Jones are also quite possible here IMO.

    lt-bryant mckinnie

    lg-steve hutchinson

    c-matt birk

    rg-artis hicks

    rt-marcus johnson

    Backup OL - Cook (C/T), Goldberg (G/T), Herrera (G/C), Rosenthal (T)

Liwienski, Whittle, Rosenthal and Herrera will probably battle for one or two roster spots here. Whittle is an experienced backup C/G, but is about
30 years old. Herrera has only practiced some at C, but is younger and has a mean streak. Liwienski is a very experienced G, but his play has dropped off since getting hurt in 04 and he too is 30ish. Rosenthal is making $1 million per season but is signed long term and is an experienced RT. Cook will stick on the roster, but has too much development ahead of him to count on him to contribute much as a backup this season.

    de-kenechi udeze/darrion scott
    dt-kevin williams/spencer johnson
    dt-pat williams/cj mosely
    de-erasmus james/dequincy scott

Unless he really shines in training camp, I think 4th rd pick Ray Edwards may be headed to the practice squad. It's hard for me to envision any of the other 2nd string linemen getting cut. If one does, I think it comes down to a battle between Spencer Johnson and DeQuincy Scott. Scott supposedly has more pass rush ability but Johnson is a tackling machine.

    rolb(wlb)-ben leber/heath farwell
    mlb-e.j. henderson/napoleon harris
    lolb(slb)-chad greenway/dontarrious thomas

These positions could be all mixed around. Greenway may not be good enough to start right away. Harris or Thomas could be in the middle with Henderson on the outside. Special Teams ace/reserve MLB Rod Davis probably isn't fast enough to succeed in the new defensive scheme.

    cb-antoine winfield/(nickel)dovonte edwards
    cb-fred smoot/(dime)cedric griffin
    fs-darren sharper//dustin fox
    ss-tank williams/willie offord/greg blue

5th round pick Blue may also find himself headed to the practice squad. Don't be surprised to find NFLE star Roynell Whitaker make this team, perhaps as a dime back. Dustin Fox will have to prove himself in this camp or he could be a cut or headed to the practice squad to make room for Whitaker or Blue.

    kr-Koren Robinson

Why mess with something that works?

    pr-Charles Gordon

UDFA can play WR or CB (though may need work at both), but looks like he would excel as a return guy in the NFL

    ls-Cullen Loeffler
    p-Chris Kluwe

Depending on how Kluwe's injury has healed, John Torp could take his job

    K-Ryan Longwell

I think that is a total of 53 players.

Re: How's the depth chart look?

Nice work PurplePat. Keeping track of all the UDFA's as well. A lot of players are competing for those 53 spots, and a lot of them appear to be toss up's at this point. Be interesting to see how it unfolds and how Childress makes his decisions during cut times (character vs. playmaker vs.....).

    Nice job, PurplePat!

I've been making one of my own in my spare time. It's quite in-depth.

I'll post it when it's done...
