Re: How you became a fan of the Purple and Gold..

I guess it started when I was 6 or so.
I know people like to say they were born a fan.
But honestly, who comes out of the womb hungry to watch the Vikes?

My dad was not around but growing-up in Fargo I started watching them every Sunday.
Kramer was instantly my favorite guy.
I got a Kramer jersey one year, then a helmet for Christmas, and then my mom found some small shoulder pads at a garage sale.
I used to get all dressed-up and my mom would put some black eyeliner under my eyes just like Tommy.
Hell, 1st through 5th grade I was Tommy Kramer for Halloween and I used to tell people I was the future QB for the Vikings.
Obviously that did not work out...or we would've had a few rings by now.

Re: How you became a fan of the Purple and Gold..

this is a crazy question for me.. i am only 21 and have lived in pittsburgh my whole life.. My dad is a huge steelers fan but me and my 2 brothers went seperate ways. One of my brothers is a raiders fan and my other brother is a giants fan. I am the youngest and somehow ended up being a vikings fan my whole life with an extreme hate for the steelers.

I have always loved the vikings ever since i can remember watching the vikings as a kid (when they were on tv anyway). i love every other pittsburgh team (HUGE PITT, PENGUINS, and PIRATES fan).. I get harassed all the time for liking every team except the only team that the city wants everyone to like. I honestly hate the steelers with a passion and i have no idea how all of it started.

Re: How you became a fan of the Purple and Gold..

In 1986 I started fantasy football and had to pick an NFL affiliate.
I was splitting a team with a buddy and he was a Steeler fan.
I kind of liked the Chargers but really I just liked watching football.
We decided to throw some names in a hat and picked out the Vikings.
Since then I started accumulating paraphernalia of the Vikings for the drafts.
Since I had a few hats and shirts I would wear them around town and a bunch of Viking fans kept asking if I was a fan.
I got sick of explaining why I had Viking gear so I started to follow the team and became a fan from that.

Odd round about way to become a Viking fan but here I am...........by the way my dad is from Chicago and a Bears fan.
Last year was tough......but this year was better.......ha ha ha

Coming from England as a kid I supported a team that i saw a bit of on tv the 49ers, then NFL coverage was given to cabal watchers only and I lost touch with it :O(

Then a mate of mine was talking about nfl and the good ol' days i used to watch it Joe Montana and co, he said he was watching his team play on cabal, would i like to watch them, he was so enthused about his Vikings that I quickly joined him supporting the purple and gold.
That was only about 4 years ago but I'm loyal and obsessive now!

I was born in Minnesota thus destined to be a Vikings fan & Twins fan. I'm not a believer in being born in one state & cheering for a football team in another state, unless the state you were born in has no team or your parent(s) were avid fans of that team & that's who you ended up watching.

When I was 18 ,I used to watch NFL on a channel called Eurosport, two weeks in a row they broadcasted Vikes games ,I remember we lost one game of that in-extremis and then I started feeling simpathy for that team with the QB with a sunglass-helmet,since then I ve been following this team the best way I ve could and thanks to the
Internet era since 3 years ago I can watch every single game. That´s my story.

So I guess I can't be a Viking fan then.
