Re: how will the vikes fare this season. I smell championship!!!

I looked at our schedule and I see the following: 10-6, NFC North Champ, and then into the playoffs. Our O-line, D-line, running game, and secondary (now) are all just too good for us not to win most of our games.

The real issue is then QB. Can Tarvaris manage an NFC playoff game and "drive the bus". I want to say he can. We would need to keep our team ahead, though, because I don't want to put Tarvaris into a situation in which he has to engineer a comeback. That gives us less room for maneauver in the playoffs, and is thus a liability in my view.

I hate to say this, but my mind is saying: 10-6, we win the 1st playoff game but then lose the next one.

Of course, my heart is always yelling "Ring !".

I actually do think that there is a way for us to win the Show. And it is to do roughly what the Giants did: pounding running game, a fierce pass rush, solid defense, and a QB who minimizes mistakes. It can be done, and I think we can do it.

It wasn't that long ago that the Packers were shutting us out and an angry mob was forming to run Childress out of town. OK we improved after that and the roster looks stronger for the new season but I still don't see us being real SB contenders this year. The two things that worry me most are the QB and the HC, they both still have to prove they can cut it at the highest level IMO. Remember at the end of last year against Washington, a game in the dome where a win advances us to the play-offs and we stink the place out 22-0 down at the half, fair enough Jackson improved second half but to late to turn the game around. The week after to have any chance of post season play we have to beat Denver, again we can't do it.

My point is when the pressure was on we came up short, if we are to make a run at the championship these are the games we have to win. Obviously T-Jack has had more time to improve since then but until he proves he can do it on a consistent basis I'm still not 100% convinced by him. Having said all that defensively we look immense and teams have gone a long way with a big D and little or no offense, so maybe my pessimism is misguided.

I was impressed we even got to the point of getting a chance for the playoffs ( bending 3-6 to a 8-6 record ) that i didn't even was all that upset about the loss. Ok it stinks but if you've seen good improvements you don't always care about the outcome because you know eventually you'll get there!

Re: how will the vikes fare this season. I smell championship!!!

I'm going to have to see how the Vikes play against the Colts in week 2 before I start yelling "SUPERBOWL".

The Vikes have a real tough schedule this year.

All playoff teams that can beat the Vikes
    Colts
    13-3
    at home

    Titans 10-6 away
    Bucs 9-7 away
    Jags
    11-5 away
    Giants 10-6 home

Underacheivers last year which will be hard to beat on the road
    Saints 7-9 away
    Texans 8-8 away

If it's Rodgers it could flow toward the Vikes 2-0, if Farve, it could be 1-1.
    Pack 13-3
    away
    Pack 13-3
    home

Everyone craps on the Lions and Bears, but they were both 7-9 ONLY 1 game behind the Vikes.
Vikes could get bit and lose one of the 4.

I have HIGH hopes for the Vikes this year, but I also won't be shocked if the Vikes start 1-4, only beating the Panthers.
If the Vikes start 4-1 though, then I will let my hopes fly.

Very nice first post my friend.

I have a strange feeling that the additions of M-Will and JA will equate to significant improvement my friend.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg
