    How underrated is Kevin Williams?

First of all, Skol Vikings! Great win today everyone. Anyways today just made me feel extremely lucky to have Kevin Williams on my team (despite the bonehead penalty he had today). I was curious to how he ranked among all DTs as far as stats, and noticed quite a difference in numbers. Also keep in mind also that although Haynesworth is a year younger than Williams, he was drafted in 2002. Williams was drafted in 2003.

    Kevin Williams:
    ---------------------------
    320 tackles
    48.5 sacks
    4 Interceptions
    4 Pro Bowls
    29 years old

    Albert Haynesworth:
    ---------------------------
    300 tackles
    27 sacks
    0 Interceptions
    2 Pro Bowls
    28 years old

Haynesworth was the first player that came to mind to compare him with. Considering the amount of press this guy got last year and the massive contract. The Redskins gave him a 7 years, 100 million dollar contract. Kevin Williams signed a contract with us for 7 years, 50 million dollars. Judging purely off of the stat comparison, you can either make the assumption that Kevin Williams is one of the most underrated players in the NFL, or the Redskins gave Albert Haynesworth the worst contract in NFL history.

Sorry Rick! Keep up the good work.

    Love Kevin

But this year I haven't seen the explosivness he seemed to have before

Still a great player.. But just seems he isn't getting as much penetration IMO

Just have to shout out to MulletMilitia...

fantastic name! SKOL, and welcome to the site.

Kevin Williams is all the beast he has been made up to be...his name doesn't need to be in lights every game to know he gets his load done.

Kwill is awesome. JA makes the whole line look better. Ray better start to step up. Kwill and Pat sure have.

Experts and analysts all know how good Kevin Williams is.

He is dominant against the run and the pass, something you do not get out of DTs often. He very much reminds me of Warren Sapp in his heyday (with a little more run stuffing and a little less pass rushing).

K-Will is well on his way to a hall of fame career, especially if the Vikes win a title or two or three :-)

I think K-Will is well on his way to the HoF even without rings if he keeps it up....

He's not that underrated if SI just named him to the All Decade team, In that comparrison with Haynesworth-I think Albert is overrated, KWill plays along two other Pro Bowlers, and an improved Edwards, So they're getting some of the glory he used to get, He and Pat are the reason we are in the top 2-3 in run defense every year (Obviously I know)

We have had some ridiculous talent n the D-line since the early 70's Page, Eller, Marshall, 80's Martin, Millard, Doleman, (In 1989 Doleman had 21 sacks, Millard 18, Noga 11.5, and Thomas 9, That was some serious pressure!!) 90's Randle, Now The Williams Wall, and Allen, For whatever reason, We seem to breed All Pro D Lineman.
Even if the Vikings lose, I can still find happiness in Bears, and Packer losses.

IDK if he is underrated. He is a hell of a player, but he gets paid his dues. Consistently voted into the probowl and is talked about as the elite DT along with Haynesworth. In regards to his contract possibly, but that is only because he honors his contract until its up. It would be interesting to see what the market value would be for him if he was a FA but I just don't see him leaving. I feel he will continue to be resigned and play his whole career in Purp. We know how important he is and that does not have character issues like Haynesworth was. K Will has a great set of guys around him and as long as we pay him respectively im sure he would be happy to stay here.

    Re:How underrated is Kevin Williams?

People talk about him as the best at his position every once in a while, but not often enough. Call me blind because of the purple shade, but he should be concerned the best interior D-linemen in the game today.
    We're bringing purple back.
